Annoyed with Habitat!

AIBU

I brought a lovely decorative box from habituate 13 months ago.

There is a fault with the lid, it doesn’t close fully anymore.

I contact habitat and they said outside the 12 month warranty but they would look further in to it if I get a report carried out an an independent specialist.

An independent specialist report on a faulty lid. Not even sure such a business exists! In any event... strikes me as... well, daft.

Clearly don’t want to cover it. Fair enough, it’s outside 12 month guarantee (live and learn if that’s shelf life of a Habitat box) but to say I need to get an independent report carries out just seems like putting customer to heck of a lot of effort!

Well....to be fair, something that now doesn’t close properly sounds more like wear and tear with no other info.

YABU you've had it for over a year!

purpleme12 · 06/11/2019 13:26

How strange.
They should have just said they wouldn't cover it!

MitziK · 06/11/2019 13:57

YABU. For buying a mere box, rather than this Leprous Pony statue.

Now I'm off down the rabbithole of ridiculous items. I'm starting with the Objets that look like upside down vibrators. Wish me luck...

That legless horse - I used to make tat like that in pottery classes.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 06/11/2019 14:12

I can't unsee that! Shock

MitziK · 06/11/2019 14:25

Oooh! For only thirty five quid, I could have a throw that looks just like an oversized Jeycloth !

MitziK · 06/11/2019 14:27

@Inebriati, fancy a new mug to remind you of those pottery classes?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 06/11/2019 14:37

They are complying with the law. If you can provide an independent report that it's a manufacturing fault and not wear and tear, they will replace, refund or repair.

Inebriati · 06/11/2019 14:40

MitziK I have stuff made by my kids thats nicer Grin

MitziK · 06/11/2019 14:43

Pipecleaner Christmas Tree, anybody?

MitziK · 06/11/2019 14:46

Haha. one of the first reviews says it's 'It's obviously made from real wool, so lovely and environmentally friendly'. Click the Details and Dimensions tab - Construction: Acrylic and Polyester. They've apparently moved the reviews from a completely different item.

YANBU. I bought a massive oak dining table from Habitat. The design is fabulous but the finish clearly wasnt intended to be used for kids to eat at. Even the smallest splash of water discoloured the top.

I've sanded it and covered it in yacht varnish to restore it to its former beauty and make it family friendly. But a table that they sell between £400-700 depending on the day of the week really should have been more resilient in the first place
