He played for Czech Republic in the 1996 Euro Comp. After his brilliant performance with Czech Republic, he got signed to Liverpool where he played for six years.

He caught my eye playing for Czech Republic in the Euros, especially when they got to the final.

Patrik has had a brilliant career in English football since he was spotted in Euro96,

In 1996 I was living in Germany and supporting Borussia Dortmund. I wasn't impressed when Patrik Berger decided to leave BvB to go to Liverpool. But Dortmund went on to win the European Cup (now called the "Champions' League") that season, so they were apparently better without him.
