To rave about my new mooncup?!

I don’t know why I’ve never tried one before! I’ve just had my most comfortable period in years; no soreness from tampons, no leakage and no running out of tampons halfway through the day. It’s easy to put in and remove and easy to clean.

The only cons I can think of are that it makes a bit of a suction noise on removal and it can be a pickle to clean in cubicled toilets.

Sorry for the TMI but honestly I couldn’t recommend it more!

You rave girl. I have a Diva and it works for me. But if I were to buy another I might buy a different brand. (Does tend to go south if I,m on my feet a lot but I have this with tampons too.)

Craftycorvid · 01/11/2019 23:03

Bottle of water in your bag for those cubicle ‘moments’ where you don’t want to emerge looking as though you have just murdered someone. Grin. I loved my mooncup. The few inconveniences are far outweighed by the advantages.

PumpkinP · 01/11/2019 23:04

I would never use one don’t care how much people rave about them

CaptainCabinets · 01/11/2019 23:05

@june2007 I’ve got the Organicup, wasn’t expecting great things as I suffer with heavy periods and the aforementioned tampon drop but that hasn’t happened at all with this!

I feel fucking evangelical

CaptainCabinets · 01/11/2019 23:06

@PumpkinP why though?

Argh I can't get on with mine. When it works it's great, way more comfortable, but I keep getting leaks. Don't know if I need to try another cup. Gave up and used towels for the last couple of days.

TheSecretJeven · 01/11/2019 23:07

Mooncups rock. I haven't tried other brands, so can't comment on them but so handy on holiday. Plus cuts down on used san pro cluttering up landfill for generations.

Thirtyrock39 · 01/11/2019 23:09

Well done
I tried a Mooncup for first and second time last weekend and had a total nightmare with it both times (first time agony from not trimming stem- second time trimmed stem and sodding thing went Awol to point dh had to go on a search and rescue ) but have major envy that you succeeded as I so wanted to!

ClientListQueen · 01/11/2019 23:09

I hated the rim on the mooncup but loved the idea. Changed to a lady cup and it's fantastic
So if one doesn't work, definitely try another type

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 01/11/2019 23:10

They are bloody brilliant aren't they, can't believe I didn't try one sooner!

Wheat2Harvest · 01/11/2019 23:15

Please take it with you when you go to the Old Vic!

I love mine! Best thing ever. Quick question- have any of you recommended them to a teenager? I love mine so much and previously had always used tampons but I don't know if it's something a teen could use? Although it's the same principle as tampons right?

PumpkinP · 01/11/2019 23:19

They freak me out, but then I don’t use tampons for the same reason.

MamaMumMama · 22/01/2022 18:34

I love mine too. Have other brands now (cheaper ones from Amazon) that also work just as well. For those of you with leaks are you inserting them properly? It creates a kind of vacuum. If you've had children or are over 30 they recommend the larger size.
Also there is no need to empty them all the time you could do it before a night out and not need to empty it before you come home.
I've been trying to get my daughter to give one a go but she's having none of it.
Life changing product.

Have you spoken to a nurse or your GP?
ThinWomansBrain · 22/01/2022 18:53

No, but when I bought one many years ago, there were two sizes, one reccomended for younger women- what they actually meant was women that hadn't given birth.
I didn't get on with the first one, but the young womens one was great - think I must have been about 40 at that stage Hmm
So, from that, yes think OK for teens.

ThinWomansBrain · 22/01/2022 18:55

The original mooncup (other than the size issue, the only option at that point) use to have a helpful nurse led advisory service. No idea if they still do.

KittyLeMew · 22/01/2022 18:57

I feel the same about my period pants! Can’t believe I was using tampons and pads for so long Smile
