Interesting observation today. Sat with a group of friends, overheard the conversation:

Max (5) 'Spencer said I was a stupid idiot'
Spencer (9) 'No I didnt'
Spencer's Mum 'You must not make up lies Max, Spencer said he didn't say that to you, it is wrong to lie'

Both boys had been playing in a different room (not brothers) and had come running out towards the parents.

I would never dismiss another child so quickly if they said my child had done something wrong. Would you?

Or does it depend on if your child has form for this type of thing? Max looked quite hurt to be dismissed so quickly. 🤔

For context, neither child is mine, just part of the wider group.

The fact Spencers mum was so quick to defend S, I'd absolutely believe Max. Then tell max off in front of her 🙊

Max was probably telling the truth. Some parents won't hear of their DC being in the wrong even when they are.
