I’ve been off work with a possible strained muscle in my stomach for a few days due to a horrendous cough and it doesn’t seem to be improving (my stomach, the cough is under control). I presume it’s a strained muscle although I’ve never had anything similar before so I don’t know if I should go and get it checked out? Don’t want to be one of those people who book appointments over nothing but I’m struggling as I can’t afford more time off work. If so, would they give me anything anyway? Thanks Grin

If it's serious enough to have made you unable to work, then I'd get it checked out.

If it is a strained muscle, they'll probably just advise you to take paracetemol and ibuprofen.

There’s nothing they can do for a strained muscle. Try a hot water bottle and a couple of paracetamol and just potter until it’s better.

If you are still worried ask at the pharmacy.

Worth checking it out. Better to be safe than sorry.

@worraliberty that’s what I thought about the strained muscle so may try that and see if it improves. I’ve accepted I’ll be off today and tomorrow anyway so will see if it improves over the weekend.

@MatildaTheCat that’s what I thought! Don’t want to waste their time so will get some ibuprofen Grin

If you can get an appointment then go . Unlike here

Stompythedinosaur · 31/10/2019 10:07

I wouldn't because there is nothing they can do to help.

HelloGeeniee · 31/10/2019 10:08

@Cryalot2 haha fair point! Probably won’t get one for 3 weeks anyway...

If it is a muscle strain, there's not a huge amount your GP can do, but you might want to call 111 so they can rule out any other potential things it might be.
