To be shocked at the price of our school uniform?

I've just bought two cardigans for my dd's ready for the start of term, and it cost me £25

Uniform rules say that jumpers etc don't have to have the logo on them, but they are a non standard colour, and I can't find any in the shops. I know that I chose the school, and part of that is supporting the uniform rules, but still, £25!

What colour is it? I;ve seen blue, bottle green and red everywhere...is it maroon?

bosslady · 16/08/2007 17:15

Thats expensive dd school jumper with logo cost £6.50 which i thought was okay!! what age are your dc?

LIZS · 16/08/2007 17:16

Think ours are about £15 - 20 each iirc.

vwvic · 16/08/2007 17:23

Yeah, it's maroon. DDs are 5 and 8. Forgot to mention cost of new pe kit- horrid shiny maroon cycling shorts at £10, logo'd t shirt at £7, and nasty flimsy maroon joggers at £12. Methinks dd2 will be benefiting from dd1's cast offs!

However, after seeing the other thread about uniform in education, I feel I've escaped lightly!

Adams do 'burgundy' school knitwear if that's any help?
We have to buy logo-ed jumper, think it's about £10. Quality is variable too. Last year one of the sizes stretched, the next size up shrunk

Hulababy · 16/08/2007 17:26

Have you tried John Lewis?

sugarmatches · 16/08/2007 20:09

Went to John Lewis today and spent £14 each on 2 pinafores!!
Madness. I walked out of the shop £85 poorer with the dresses, cardigan, blouses, pe kit, underwear socks, tights, etc.
And when did Clarks start charging £30 for shoes?! We went in and tried them on, dd loved them, went to the till and almost passed out. I was too embarassed to tell them to forget it and walk out.
Not a great day shopping, but we have what we need.
And does anyone else have a dd who demanded a Cars lunch bag? She will have the same one as all the boys, but she says she doesn't care.

littlerach · 16/08/2007 20:11

I actaully thought that you had to be able to buy school uniform form the high street as well as an authorised stockist.

Tortington · 16/08/2007 20:16

over £120 for 2 school uniforms. blazers avec school emblem cost £40.

Nymphadora · 16/08/2007 20:42

We've just had the same problem, anyone seen cheap PURPLE stuff anywhere?

Sidge · 16/08/2007 21:20

My daughter wears burgundy - I got her cardigans in Asda for £4!
