Why does public transport turn people into such CF'ers?

Travelled 5 hours on the train today. I was sat on one table with 3 kids and my two teen girls were sat on another table across the aisle.

The train got really, really busy for a short time and DD1 offered her seat to a heavily pregnant woman who was standing. We squidged up and she perched with 2 of the kids.

The woman's husband asked DD2 if she could move as well and DD explained she has narcolepsy so she couldn't stand. He then looked at DD1 for most of the 20 minutes he was on the train clearly hoping she'd move (his partner told him to behave twice)

Then as the woman was leaving the train she, obviously, offered DD1 her seat back and another woman actually pushed past her to get to it! If she had at least let the woman get by first I wouldn't have objected so much, and DD probably wouldn't have said anything, but I said to her "That's actually her reserved seat, she just gave it up for the pregnant lady" and you'd have thought I'd shit in her cornflakes. She then got off at the next stop!! All that rudeness for about 4 minutes.

Then when it came time to get off we couldn't find one of our cases. Thankfully we were the final stop so no worries about missing it. As I was panicking someone had mistakenly taken it a guy pipes up "Oh if its a red case then it's in the vestibule. There wasn't space for mine and I didn't want it out of sight so I moved one." Who even does that?! Same size of case, yet felt his was more important than anyone elses

That's not to mention the very, very important business man who had a call at full volume for 25 minutes, the family who had no headphones so subjected everyone to cartoons and whoever it was letting off the silent, but deadly farts every so often

I could absolutely curse the fucker that ran into my car and drove away Angry

Travel hates:

  1. Queue jumping and then trying to avoid my gaze. I saw you fucking queue jump you total twat.
  2. Bag on empty seat next to you: who the fuck do you think you are making me BEG you to remove your precious tote?
  3. Twats with wheelie bags to out in overhead on flights. Yeah that's right, you're creating a space problem. And yeah you're doubling the time it takes to board.
  4. on trains and planes people who stand in the aisle when boarding getting out their fucking mnms and hello magazines and evians and cardi - how bout you sit the fuck down and get yourself nice and cosy once everyone is sitting you selfish shit?
  5. people talking really loudly in a fake voice to their kids. Whisper. I dont want to listen to this.
  6. people queueing in plane aisle to go for a piss on a 40 min flight. Hello? You cant all surely have bladder or bowel issues? Why do I now have arses in my face for the duration of my flight? Piss beforehand
  7. people gobbing food. It's a 30 min bus ride/train. Eat at home
  8. people casually sauntering in tube corridors. This is kings cross dude. I have a fucking train to catch. Move?

Arrrrrgh! I could go all night long

I know what you mean - YANBU
Although sounds like you were unlucky and had a good few CF’s
I think if it’s also commuter time, as you say the train got busy people can be absolutely savage in their commute.

This week I was getting off a train along with most of the people in the carriage (it was arriving at a major station). For some reason one of the passengers waiting to board the train insisted on getting on the train before anyone had alighted. Wtf! It wasn't as if there would be a shortage of seats on that train as everyone was getting off and he was close to the door.

A few weeks ago I was waiting to get on the train with my daughter in her pram and the platform was rammed with tourists going home at the end of summer. There was no else by my door waiting to get on but just as I was able to get on and was lifting her pram up a group of mid sixty year old well spoken women appeared from nowhere and actually pushed me out of the way and got on before me. Then when I eventually got on they all barged back into the door area squashing us against the wall. One shouted to the train manager, "where's first class and our seats?!!" and he explained they were a carriage short and would be picking it up later in their journey. He offered to take this one woman's bag for her and then her friends all dumped their bags with this one man like he was a hotel porter and walked off without saying anything.
