What is it with people these days, I find more and more people won't reply to texts or emails . Like a simple quick reply , yes I'm fine. Or that's good. But nothing
I find it rude , immature.
Not a massive tester, but something is better than nothing

'Yes I'm fine' and 'that's good' are generally replies to pretty pointless texts though. Back and forth, saying nothing much, but demanding attention.

Maybe they just hate small talk.

@purpleberry11

YANBU and I agree. Maybe I expect too much of people. Because I reply to a text or email as soon as I see it - or as soon as I am able to - I expect other people to also.

I have some wonderful people in my life who are lovely friends (and family,) but they're a bit shit at responding to texts. Even my DC can take half a day - or a whole day!!! But I have just learned to accept that it's just the way they are. They are wonderful in every other way.

What's more, on the few occasions I HAVE needed them very urgently, they answer within 10-15 minutes. If it's just general shit/small talk/chit chat, they take half a day to a day (sometimes.)

Then again, there are/have been a few people in my life who just can't be arsed to respond, but expect me to respond to them straightaway. They also don't respond if I am giving them a response they don't like. Eg, one woman I used to know would text and say 'coming past your house in half an hour. I will pop by...' If it was not convenient, I would text back within several minutes, and say 'sorry, very busy/going to work/going out... etc. Maybe next week one day???'

No response. She wasn't get the answer she wanted, so she ignored me. The decent thing to do would have been to text back and say 'ok no worries. Let me know which day and time.' Then I would say 'yes ok, take care...'

Then there's the ones who only message you when they want something......... Had a bellyful of that type in my life!

My phone is for my convenience and not anyone else's. It can take me up to a few days respond to texts and phone calls. I never answer personal emails because I never check ot. What really gets on my nerves is that MIL will send messasges through facebook messenger and gets upset because I don't answer those at all. I don't have messenger and haven't used facebook at all since 2015. Then she decided to add me on a group chat. She quickly found herself blocked from my phone

I don't get any signal in my house at all, so messages only come through when I leave the house with my phone, mind you anyone of importance in my life is well aware of this and knows they can reach me on the landline.

Stuff that! When somebody else is paying my phone bill they get to dictate what I do with my phone. Until then my phone remains a tool for me to use, not to be ruled by.
