To ask for your recommendations for a steam mop/cleaner

Posting here for traffic.

I have a flat inspection on tuesday and my old steam mop has just kicked the (mop) bucket. Please can you recommend me a new one.

Has to be good for laminate and tiled floors.

Needs to be relatively light weight and easy to store (I only have a tiny flat)

Under £100 because I’m skint and even £100 is a struggle.

I’d quite like one that can be used as a handhold but it’s a nice to have, rather than essential.

I’d prefer one that doesn’t use detergent.

I’ve been looking at various review sites but I’m drowning under all the options. Please can you give me the benefit of your Mumsnetty wisdom?

Karcher do reconditioned/refurbished, I got mine (with attachment for furniture etc) for under £100. It’s the best one I’ve tried - copes with dog and outdoorsy people grime on stone floors, so would definitely cope with smoother hard floors.
It isn’t the lightest one available, but it’s light enough for me to handle (with MS).

I like my Vax one it was only about £60 and can be lifted out to use in other areas. Also you can use detergent if you want but can just turn this function off. Light and simple to use.

I've got the vax steamfresh combi and as Cauliflower said, you dont' have to use the detergent bit (I never have).

It's really good on floors, it can be used as a handheld and it comes with lots of attachments for doing various jobs. It also has a very long cord, which is handy.

Mine cost £70.

Fab, thanks. I was looking at the Vax so I think I’ll go for that.
