Aibu Vape shops are targeting kids? Tango and bubblegum flavours - surely if you're an adult trying to give up cigarette's, you're not going to be wanting ,"kid flavours"? Am I wrong?

I vape mainly fruit flavour currently on a strawberry flavour

HowlinProwlin · 22/10/2019 11:56

I vape strawberry and grape, grape, strawberry macaroon, cherry cola and lemon meringue pie flavours.

Whilst some people like the 'tobacco' flavours, actually most like some sort of sweetie, dessert or fruit flavours and they are by far the bigger seller... to adults.

I'm 60, vaping strawberry, chocolate banana and lemon pie. Poor business plan if you target a demographic that can't legally purchase your product.

I've seen kids in school uniforms vaping.

There's a Tattooist in our high street. A huge, burly Hells Angels looking fella. Big ol' beard and shaved head, Heavy metal t shirts and leather jacket.
And every time I walk past him outside having a vape I get a whiff of his tooty fruity sweet smelling vape liquid.

My friend vapes strawberry liquid only. Smells sickly as hell but she likes it. She's in her forties.

When I was quitting I vaped bubblegum. My dh Cherry, and my mother has some sour one. My friends dh cotton candy.

Maybe we don’t want to smell like fags while giving up.

Latest data from Action on Smoking and Health Yougov survey shows "Of young people aged 11-18 years old who have never smoked 0.8% are current vapers, only 0.1% vape more than once a week, and not a single never smoker reported vaping daily."
Targeting kids doesn't appear to be working very well.

Some Vape shops definitely target children, the children will all know where they can go and buy their liquids from. It was the same when I was a child with cigarettes, we all knew which shops would sell them to young people.

But the manufacturers are largely indifferent I'd say neither encouraging or discouraging children from their products, I think they should all come in plane packaging just like tobacco products that you smoke but I guess it just takes time for parliament to catch up with things like that.

I vape and I’m currently on fizzy cherry bubblegum. My workmate is on blackcurrent Chewits.

Im not sure 'knowing which shops don't give a fuck about selling to under age kids' is quite the same as 'they target children'. Targetting means actively encouraging, promoting, taking steps to draw that market in.. and no one is doing that!

The statistics as quoted by Blartsy demonstrate that whilst some kids try it, very few are habitual vapers and those who are almost certainly already smoked.
