To ask for verruca treatments

BrassTactical · 21/10/2019 13:25

DD1 has 2 big stubborn verrucas. I’ve frozen them 3 times so we are maxed on that treatment.

What next? Is it a nurse practitioner thing??

Have you tried dabbing with tea tree oil? Didn't think it must be working then DDs just rolled off Grin

LucileDuplessis · 21/10/2019 13:38

Have you tried an over the counter remedies like Bazuka? IME you use it for ages and nothing seems to be happening and then suddenly it works!

BrassTactical · 21/10/2019 13:40

I’ve used Bazuca but maxed out on how many times I’m allowed to use it.

Haven’t tried tea tree so I’ll gice that a go!

Time. Pain in the arse but time. I had a horrible one for about ten years. Froze it, bazuked it, apple vinegar, duct tape, it wasn't going anywhere and then magically just vanished one day.

JBCG · 21/10/2019 13:48

Savlon advanced healing gel! Had one for about 7 years that nothing would shift. Two uses of savlon gel and it was gone!

Goldenhedgehogs · 21/10/2019 22:00

Verugon buy off Amazon. It is salycilic acid at a fairly strong strength so the same stuff a chiropodist put on them but slightly weaker. Worked after a few goes and much cheaper than chiropodist which I had used for first born. Poor middle child got cheaper version!

FREEM · 21/10/2019 22:02

i honeslty think they all go eventually and all these tea tree olis etc are just coincidence

1Morewineplease · 21/10/2019 22:05

Put whatever you want on. They just die, eventually.

EstrellaGalicia · 21/10/2019 22:06

Ive been plagued all my life with verrucas. Have paid hundreds on 2 separate occasions to have them treated at a chiropodist and within a couple of years came back again. I've tried everything. Hope you have more luck than I did

MrsCat1 · 21/10/2019 22:06

Duct tape worked for DDs numerous verrucas. Was amazing after we had tried endless other treatments.

MakeItRain · 21/10/2019 22:07

I didn't know there was a limit on the Bazuka verucca! I remember buying it years ago for my dd, and a random man in the shop told me ot to give up with it, but to just keep putting it on and when you feel you should have long, long given up on it, it suddenly works. I took his advice and that's exactly what happened!

1Morewineplease · 21/10/2019 22:07

PS... some folk swear by lemon oil

IndiGHOSTHEXagon · 21/10/2019 22:08

I read somewhere that with warts and verrucas you need to stimulate the body’s natural healing response in the area that has the wart/verruca - unfortunately I cant remember how they said to do it! Sorry!

IncyWincy23 · 21/10/2019 22:09

@JBCG did you put a plaster over the gel once you’d applied it? And how long between treatments? I’ve got two very stubborn ones and will try anything!

CloudRusting · 21/10/2019 22:10

Unless they are actively causing pain best to leave them alone and they will go in time.

avamiah · 21/10/2019 22:11

They are a nightmare, my 9 year old has had them before .
Cuplex Gel and Bazuka

Sewingbea · 21/10/2019 22:12

Duct tape. I scoffed when the G.P. suggested it (in my head, I'm not rude) but it worked. 🙄

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 21/10/2019 22:15

Bazuka and scraping was the only thing that worked on my daughter’s. Envy not envy!

Literally putting the stuff on, covering it and then scraping away as much of it as possible with clean scissors ✂️ I think we used, almost cutting away any dead bits and then repeating the whole process. It took a while but did work.

shoebedobedobedobedoo · 21/10/2019 22:15

Salactol. It comes in a green box. You need to order it as almost no chemists keep it. Put it on for about a month/6 weeks, then pick the verucca out with a pin. Never fails.

littlepeas · 21/10/2019 22:16

I agree that only time gets rid of them. I had a huge one through 3 pregnancies and it only went once I stopped being pregnant and my immune system was back up and running as normal. Two of my dc got one at the same sort of time - one of them went very quickly and the other one hung about for a year!

BunloafAndCrumpets · 21/10/2019 23:03

Had a dreadful cluster of them (Envy) develop when I was pregnant. Went to a private chiropodist as it was huge and I was a bit horrified. She got rid of them, they've not returned! I honestly think she did it faster than just 'time' would have so if that's an option for you, you could try it?

theWarOnPeace · 21/10/2019 23:11

I have the answer!

My son had a huge monster of a verruca that seemed never to be going.

I read something about starving it of air, that makes its roots come up or something. I started covering it at all times with a plaster, when I removed the plaster then cleaning it with salty water, then plaster back on.

After about a week of this it started coming to a head, it went from being a deep crater to being more like a little volcano pushing outwards. After about another two weeks of covering, cleaning and recovering, it came out so far that it fell out and left a clean scooped out hole behind.

Gross story over! The best part of that remedy was that I didn’t have to start getting up close and personal with the vile thing. Just dipped in salty water, air dried and clean plaster back over. Job done.

TheBrilloPad · 21/10/2019 23:11

DD had one for aaaaaages and the only thing that worked was relentlessly Bazuka-ing every night and using a nail file every few days to file it all off and start again. Once we started the filing, it was gone within 2/3 weeks

feelingchange · 21/10/2019 23:14

My 8 year old has 2, we took her to the chiropodist and they have done a silver nitrate treatment. Has a second one this week, I'm keeping my fingers crossed they go away soon!

Coughsyrupsucks · 21/10/2019 23:20

I have a huge one at the moment, it’s in the exact same place I dug one out of 30 odd years ago. I think my immune system is being hit by peri-menopause. It came out of the blue a month ago and it’s so painful. Been to the podiatrist 3 times with it, she cut it out the first time, but the bit around it isn’t going. So have been lasered twice and it still hurts like hell. it’s like standing on Lego ALL the time. Keep all the solution ideas coming please, I’ll try them anything now Smile
