To ask for 18th birthday suggestions?

My DD turns 18 next month and desperately wants a house party for 80 people. Not surprisingly, we've said no to this, and said she could have 20 people but apparently this would be too lame for words as everyone else is throwing the party of the century...Hmm. In my day, we just went to the pub and enjoyed being able to legally order a cider!

Please could I ask what your DC have done to celebrate turning 18, be it with friends or family so I can offer some more suggestions? (Ps just to get in first - she is a lovely girl, not a spoilt brat, but is a sociable teenager with lots of different friendship groups!)

My parents organised a picnic at a park for me - it was actually super cool! They put on a massive spread of food and we had frisbee, hola hoops, light toys and juggling which was kind of my crowd. Our house was too small for a house party even though it was the done thing in my friendship circle as was at a boarding school (on a scholarship). I loved it and everyone else did too.

Thanks @FishFunk, I love that idea!

I would avoid a party, with 80 people it could easily get out of hand, there was a house party in Milton Keynes at the weekend where someone was stabbed to death.

Have the party elsewhere, lots of venues do private functions

There are some really nice picnic party ideas on Pinterest and you can make it more of a family and friends event too if you wish.
