Bus driver interview (sorry, not AIBU but need answers quickly)

Hello! I realise there is a job section but thought I’d post here to get more answers.

I have a job interview tomorrow for a trainee bus driver role with arriva. It’s something that I’ve always been interested in doing and having been a driver for nearly four years now I feel very confident in my driving abilities and I think I would be good at the job. I would of course complete all of the training through them in order to get the specific licence.

I’ve read online about the interview process which is 90 minutes long and will involve a driving assessment (eeek). Apart from that I can’t find much information. I was hoping someone on here might work for them or has a partner/friend/family member who does and knows what sorts of questions they will ask in the interview?

I’ve had a look on glass door reviews but most of them are terrible, however I’m trying to not let that put me off as I try to give every job a fair chance.

Also what are the working hours like? Is it quite a good life balance? Unfortunately they don’t advertise the working hours or salary so will have to wait until tomorrow to ask all of that information.

Thanks!!

I’m a bus driver. Have been for 15 years. The money is great where I work and live. The hours tend to be 5 over 7 and either early-late ( early one week, late shift next week ) or constant 12 hour day shifts. Not sure how Arriva work regarding choosing a shift pattern but eventually you can get what you want. It is great for us. During summer holidays etc I can take dd to attractions mid week when they’re quieter. I can take her to school every day on lates, pick her up every day on early shift. I enjoy it. Good luck!

@onthebuses7, may I ask, how did it go?
Sorry I missed this thread yesterday.

Bus driving wages and conditions can vary wildly depending where you are and which company, area, depot and even rota you are on!

Did you get a look at the sort of shifts you would be on and what did you think of the money?
