Just haxd my food shop arrive and the bag of frozen stuff was missing, only 3 items, but each item was essential to a meal, so 3 meals I can't cook now.

I ring up and the woman says very sorry blah blah blah, we'll give you a refund. I said no thanks i'd like my stuff, the driver only just left. She then tells me that they don't have the drivers conatct number so a refund is the only option, and get this, I will recieve my refund to my card within 7-10 working days.

What a joke, will never use them again thats for sure.

I am on such a strict food budget and had planned all of my meals for this week anxd now 3 of them I can't cook and will have to go out and buy more stuff from my bills money.

I think that's just standard shop-speak. Even with the best will in the world, if they did your refund right now it would still be several days.

Could you insist that they offer you something as a gesture of goodwill? Free delivery next time maybe?

nutcracker · 15/08/2007 15:22

Well tbh i normally get free delivery anyway as there is always a code for free delivery floating around.

Have just emailedx them to say how disgusted I am with their service anyway.

I think that's pretty much all you can do. Hopefully, they will value your custom and will see some sense!

nutcracker-We had exactly the same thing with Tesco's and the items were for my sons birthday party.

I rang them and the guy said sorry we will refund you in 4-5 days and you will have to go out and buy the items you are missing.
My DH rang back and asked to speak to the customers services manager and said he wanted the items delivered today and could they contact the driver.

They called him and he still had them on the van and came back an hour later with them.
They also refunded our delivery charge the same day.

I can't believe there drivers don't have a mobile phone in the van for contact to the store.

I would ring back and ask to speak to the customers services manager, you never know.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 15/08/2007 15:55

I had that with Tesco once - they screwed up with my delivery 3 times in a row and charged my card each time they failed to deliver it, so they ended up taking something like £240 from my card without delivering any shopping at all, then told me it would be a fortnight before I got my money back. I stropped at them and they did it within a few days, but no apology or anything.
Have not shopped there since.

nutcracker · 15/08/2007 15:56

They normally do have a mobile i think, as they have contacted the driver previously when I have been missing items, but the woman i was talking to, rang through to the stores customer service and they said they had no number.

Anyway it seems that the driver has some sense. He has just knocked my door saying he found a lone bag of shopping as he was finnishing, was it mine.

So do i now ring the store back and tell them I don't need a refund or what ?

I'd not say anything, and keep it as compensation for your hassle. If the driver tells them he found your shopping they won't refund it anyway.

nutcracker · 15/08/2007 16:00

Yeah was thinking that.

Tbh i don't think i will use them again anyway as they seem to get worse each time. I have just priced up exactly the same shopping at Sainsburys and it was only £2 more than Asda, although obviously i'd have to pay for delivery.

Normally I would be the first to say ring them, but that level of CS is atrocious.

Keep them.

Never thought you would see me typing that did you ???

nutcracker · 15/08/2007 16:06

LOL no I didn't tbh.

Have just remembered I emailed complaining. If they ring me I will own up to the guy bringing the shopping back, but play dumb about the refund and say I assumed the driver would of told them.

If they refund it thats great, but if not, well at least I have my food.
