To think this is a scam?

I recently bought two expensive tickets for the London show at the O2 of a US act's global tour, in July 2020.

I expected a stampede so bought as soon as it said 'Best available'. I read later that day that the whole tour had now sold out and felt very lucky.

Two days later I get an "Important Email" from AXS, the supplier (the O2's official supplier) asking if I wanted to sell my tickets or buy anymore. The link then showed that a substantial number of tickets were available in much better seats. I bought two better ones and uploaded my old ones for sale and got an email a couple of days later saying my old tickets had now been sold.

However, the email also said that I would be refunded my £170 within ten days of the show taking place, ie July 2020!! Their Help section said this is to combat fraud, but I think this is an almighty scam to earn millions in interest by hanging onto the sales from sold arena tickets for almost a year (they're a global company selling tickets for hundreds of arena tours).

Has anyone else experienced this?

Surely it’s up to you to check the T&Cs before you decided to sell them

ErickBroch · 19/10/2019 14:19

That is just how it is, it's not a scam. You should have read it properly - sorry though I know that sucks!

EauDeResistance · 19/10/2019 14:20

That's pretty standard. You should have read the T&Cs and if you weren't happy to wait for the money, you shouldn't have sold them on.

coconuttelegraph · 19/10/2019 14:24

If they can find somewhere to earn £millions of interest I'd like to know where it is, they'd be lucky to get £1 on your money and it'll cost them more than that to run the resale system

On these threads why is everyone so coy about who they're actually going to see? It's so daft.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/10/2019 15:22

MuchBetterNow bet it's Billie Eilish.

ReadyPayerTwo · 19/10/2019 19:41

Thanks all - I feel a bit better about it now. And yes it's Billie Eilish!

I doubt they'll refund automatically. Probably not the full amount either Sad

ActualHornist · 07/11/2019 18:09

I think that’s well cheeky. Sure it’s in the t&c but still it’s a company making money over refunding to a paying customer - and especially when they’ve recommended you do it!

Interest on £170 isn’t great but if there’s a 50% take up on it then it all adds up.

Hingeandbracket · 07/11/2019 18:14

Yes it’s a scam. This is why I don’t buy tickets for gigs like this. If everyone stopped paying silly prices they would stop it.
