birthday pressies for 9 year old DD

Not Aibu but posting for traffic - I am a bit desperate.

what do others get as birthday pressies for their 9 year old DDs?

DD will soon be 9 and wants to be surprised. Shock

She is a book worm so will be getting some books she asked for. she also likes writing stories and poems so I got some journals too but other than that...?

DD is not girly, not interested in clothes (hates new stuff in fact and wears her old stuff to death), she has no interest in crafts, is not into anything as such and not bothered about toys other than some of the Lego set she likes to play with (but she really has more than enough given her limited enthusiasm for it).

she has a tablet comp, bike and scooter (she also loves the outdoors).

but I am stuck. what do others get? I need some non girly inspiration!

My DD just had an instax camera for her 9th birthday, she loves it. Also bought an accessories set for it that included a photo album, different coloured lenses etc.

I volunteer in a girls' primary, and a lot of them seem to get new bedding, and/or matching cushions and/or matching curtains and/or matching beanbags. So, I guess, a bedroom revamp.
A kindle.
An experience, so zookeeper for a day, or animal experience, type thing. Mercedes World do driving experiences - my DD did one and I seem to remember it was dependent on height rather than age.

My DD10 wants a kindle for Xmas. She has also asked for AirPods.

In previous years we've got her decent art sets, jewellery, a phone Hmmand clothes.

Dd same age, and not very girly at all.

She loves huge galt marble runs

K'nex rollercoasters

Stationary

Crystal making kits

Flower pressing

Amazon gift cards for buying her kindle books and Audio books.

Roller blades

Experience days .....mazes, Indoor Skydiving and climbing walls.

she hates new bedding and stuff (she is a bit of an odd one). and we redecorated her room not too long ago.

no zoo or anything like that where we live. though she would probably like something along those lines. Food for thought. Thanks!

can I ask a really silly question - what does a kindle actually do? isn't that a tablet computer?

My DD turned 9 last week. She got a Raspberry pi coding laptop, tickets to The Lion King and money.

How about a kids Fitbit?

bridgetreilly · 16/10/2019 21:56

There are Kindles which are ereaders (EXCELLENT for a bookworm child!) and Kindle Fires which are tablets. Get her a Kindle.

But also a special treat day out is another good idea.

Last year dd got roller skates and a set of elbow and knee pads and wrist guards. She loves them.

Geneva1995 · 16/10/2019 22:09

Fitbit? A camera? A voucher so you can take her shopping? A slime making kit Wink

AudacityOfHope · 16/10/2019 22:18

Echo Dot for her room: my DD of the same age loves listening to podcasts as she goes to sleep.

Also on her list if that's any use - Fitbit, canvas and paints, Waterstones voucher, and (randomly) a hoverboard.

MarthasGinYard · 16/10/2019 22:19

Echo dot too

KurriKurri · 16/10/2019 22:30

skateboard, basketball hoop, pogo stick - those were things both my kids liked at 9 (one girl one boy)
Does she like sciency stuff - my DD used to love kits where you could build an engine or a motor or that sort of thing

like this kit

It says 10yrs plus - but if she likes that kind of thing she'll manage it. DD also liked meccano, and k'nex and those DK eyewitness books - they have ones on science, space, nature, history, natural wonders etc
