Name changed incase people recognise the tongue!!

I had one ulcer yesterday and woke up this morning with my tongue like this - it's goes right the way back to my teeth. Been at a funeral all day so haven't been able to go to doctors but popped into the pharmacy and got some bonjela but my tongue is on fire!!! I haven't been able to eat or drink all day and actually feel like crying!

Anything on your hands or feet? Wonder if difflam spray would help

beckyvardy · 16/10/2019 19:53

Have you got any allergies?

soretounge · 16/10/2019 19:56

Nothing on hands and feet and have never had an allergic reaction to anything! Haven't eaten anything new or changed my diet/lifestyle in any way. I usually get one or two when I'm stressed/run down but I think this is a bit more extreme

I’d go. That looks very sore, I hope you find some relief soon Flowers

CAG12 · 16/10/2019 20:00

Yes go, wouldnt want it to swell anymore and block your airway.

WhoisitnowRalph · 16/10/2019 20:01

Ooh you poor thing that looks nasty. Have you got anything in the back of your throat, like white marks?

I'm wondering about oral thrush, as has another poster I think who mentioned difflam spray. Have you completed a course of antibiotics lately?

If pharmacist can't help and an antiseptic mouthwash does not good, maybe a trip to the doc is in order. Hope you feel better soon!

DonPablo · 16/10/2019 20:03

That looks sore do you have a sore throat at all?

Anbesol is the best for numbing mouths, but be careful, you can bite you're tongue if it's too numb.

But yeah, I think I'd go.

Marshmallow91 · 16/10/2019 20:07

Definitely. You may have an allergy.

My tongue does similar if I take ibuprofen

slipperywhensparticus · 16/10/2019 20:09

Thrush is more white

soretounge · 16/10/2019 20:10

Thanks everyone.

Throat isn't sore and haven't had any antibiotics. The centre of my tongue isn't sore at all it's just all the way around the edge which is on fire so I'm completely baffled!

Last year I had a weird virus which came with a fever and a mouthful of ulcers. Was horrible but went away in about a week. I went to the doctors on day 1 and so should you.

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/10/2019 00:33

I can't see the images clearly but could it be strawberry tongue which is a symptom of scarlet fever?

Thedot90 · 17/10/2019 00:40

If you are otherwise well I would watch and wait. Not an awful lot a walk in centre will do for you other than self care - bonjela/pain relief/chlorhexidine mouthwash. Hope it gets better soon, ulcers are very sore. DOI GP.

managedmis · 17/10/2019 00:42

Probably HFM

Munkers · 17/10/2019 02:15

Looks like herpes....

Ask pharmacist or dentist for advice.
