Praising a Tesco employee

Took my severe disabled child to Tesco today one staff member went above and beyond helping me when he went into a seizure ,all ok took him home and 30 mins left him with my older daughters to go back and thank the employee, while I was there this woman who was behind me at the customer service desk said why the f##k are you saying thank you ,I need serving not listening to you praising the staff they are here to serve not be praised , yes she was told a few wise words ,why do people treat staff as servants instead of individuals ,

She sounds like an idiot. Just forget about her.

Good on the employee and good on you for thanking them- it doesn't happen enough. There is a very apparent "upstairs/downstairs" attitude rearing its ugly head in society atm. People seem to think anyone in a service job is beneath them! Ignore the idiot she is not worth the brain space.

Email head office with your praises OP. They will contact head of store etc and let them know that the member of staff has been outstanding and hopefully their work will be recognised When I worked in retail someone once emailed head office about me and even though it was just a pat on the back from my boss when he heard about it, it still meant a lot to be recognised for my work

I would probably email Tesco and tell them about their lovely employee. I did this once for someone at a Holiday Inn, and they emailed me to say that my thanks had been passed on.
The other customer sounds vile.

Email Tesco and tell them about their employee etc. Tesco give feedback to each store every week and the member of staff will be told about your thank you x

I work in the service industry in the public sector - it can be pretty thankless serving members of the public who are often ungrateful.

Once in a while someone will buy us a box of chocolates or write a thank you card and it is always so appreciated.

But the best thing ever is an email acknowledging great service and a particular member of staff - it always gets passed on and management get to hear about it. It happens very rarely though.

Awful shopper - you did right thing OP and yes email them through the website too - I did when I had a multiple toddler fiasco and one Tesco lady saved the day - Tesco replied and said they would inform her and her and her manager and thank her that I’d been really pleased and thankful for their help

That was a lovely thing to do, to return and say thanks in person. You and the members of staff concerned are far better people than the selfish, nasty and impatient woman.

Yes you did the right thing, forget the other customer. A customer went out of her way to find my store manager and praise me once years ago and he then passed on the praise to me. I have never forgotten how it made me feel and I always try to do the same. Hope your son is stable again now, that sounds very unpleasant for him and you.

What a horrible woman! You did absolutely the right thing by thanking the Tesco staff, that stupid woman is a prize cow.
