I need help! I feel like jumping off a cliff.

Im sat crying again in pain with my mouth, on Tuesday I went to my dentist with what I thought was toothache. It was a gum infection and he gave me antibiotics.

By Thursday no pain relief was touching it so went back to the dentist he did more xrays/checks as I couldn't open my mouth as much as I could the day before but said there was nothing there so nothing he could do so gave me More antibiotics.

I rang my doctor and got stronger pain relief, which do work but now I feel like a shitty mum cos they make me out of it and very sleepy.

Its now Sunday morning and the pain has woke me, I feel sick as its a dull throb in the right side of my jaw, feeling like a drill is hitting underneath my cheek bone.
I don't know what to do, I did labour without any pain relief (not a brag) but this is a thousand times more painful.

I don't know what to, I feel like I'm going to be in this pain forever,

I don't have any suggestions but I hope you feel better soon. Sounds awful.

That's truly horrible OP. Deep breaths, you will feel better soon although it doesn't feel like it now. Keep taking the pain meds, you obviously need them. Do you have a partner or friend/ mum who can help you with the children today?

Smelborp · 13/10/2019 05:49

Toothache can be completely horrendous. Sorry you’re suffering OP Flowers

Do you have someone with you?

Gsh3 · 13/10/2019 05:55

Thank you. I went really dizzy, I think I've got myself into a bit of a mess.
Dh is here but him and eldest dd whos6 both have a sickness bug. So I'm trying really hard to cope but it isn't really going well.
2yr old dd just wants cuddles all the time, so I don't know if she is coming down with something too.
My parents both work full time nights so I feel bad asking them after a 8-12hr night shift.
Im just in a sorry state with myself.

What antibiotics did the dentist give you and how long are you expected to take them?

How are old are your dc? It's shaping up to be another day of shit weather and, unless they're very tiny, your dc are unlikely to come to harm if you turn your tv to a children's channel/put a load of suitable dvds on and sit them down in front of it while you doze on the sofa.

Tell them it's a special treat day and have a picnic of pizzas or whatever you have handy in the freezer so you are spared the chore of heavy duty cooking.

Keep taking the painkillers and get back to your dentist on Monday.

Gsh3 · 13/10/2019 06:20

I'm just finished ones called metrozime or a and got 2 days of amoxicillian left.
Yeah my girls are happy to have a PJ movie day, they will only play with the doll house if I should nod

Oh I really sympathise, tooth ache is the worst. What pain medication has the doctor given, if you don't mind my asking?

Jenny70 · 13/10/2019 06:27

It may not be the right antibiotic for this infection. I would call dentist as soon as they open monday - these ones should have helped by now.

Gsh3 · 13/10/2019 08:21

I've been given 30/500 Co codomal and 200mg ibuprofen. They do help but I'd rather just not be in pain than have to taken pain relief.

Hmm that pain relief won't do much, in my experience. Toothache is definitely worse than childbirth for me. You can ring 111 for dental emergencies and they will advise you, don't suffer in that horrendous pain. If it were severe pain in any other part of your body you'd be treated in A&E!

worriedandannoyed · 13/10/2019 09:17

Do you have any oil or cloves? That can work if you gently dab a tiny bit on the tooth or teeth nearest the infection

worriedandannoyed · 13/10/2019 09:17

I mean oil of cloves

RJnomore1 · 13/10/2019 09:20

Ring 111 if it’s getting worse and you’ve finished the antibiotics.

And ring your parents, if my daughter was in that state abd her husband was ill if want to come help I wouldn’t regard it as a nuisance in these circumstances.

Poor you, I had minor toothache last year, like you I’m pretty stoic but it was horrific

Gsh3 · 13/10/2019 18:16

I've been asleep on and off all day the pains got worse, spoke to dentist and cos they couldn't find anything else with the xray they told me to go A&E so my mum is coming to pick me up. But now my ocd and anxiety are playing up and I'm paronoid that they will tell me I'm dying, cos I feel like I am.
I am in such a sorry state with myself.

OP how are you feeling minus the pain? Do you have a high temp/shivering/vomiting anything like that? It's important to get a potential infection under control so you're doing the right thing by seeking medical help.

Try not to worry, you're going to see a doctor so you should be on the mend soon Flowers
