To think that neighbours could pick up the bill?

We have moved house about 5 month or so and we don’t know our neighbours very well as yet. We all live in detouched houses, but one not very far from another.
A week ago I had a professional window cleaners and the whole or house was washed.
Then Last weekend a van arrived at the neighbours drive way and started jet washing their pavement. As a result all four our ground floor windows were very dirty.. I have found this only after that cleaner has left. So I went to the neighbours and said I have recently paid for a professional window cleaner to wash our windows, and the windows are dirty again. They gave me a leaflet to contact the cleaner, which I did. I have called him and asked him to come back to clean the windows he has dirtied. He said he will come back in a couple of days. Guess what, he never materialized..
So I went to the neighbors again. Explained that their pavement cleaner is ignoring me and if they could contact him. They said they will. They never did apologize, nothing like that. All smiley, friendly. But that's it. The following day the neighbor is knocking on my door and saying that he has tried to contact the cleaner, but no luck, and would I like him to hose my windows? God, no. I would not like him to hose my windows, they don't get clean from it. I want them to be washed. Very politely I told him I will have to hire professional cleaners AGAIN. He said ok and left. I am so annoyed. WTF?Hmm
Now I have contacted my window cleaners and they came again to wash the windows and I have paid Confused phew

Seems to be a small issue to get worked up about. Windows will need cleaning every month or so anyway.

Do you really want to create problems with your new neighbours over a few dirty windows?

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 12/10/2019 19:22

Windows get dirty outdoors within days of being cleaned.

I’d have just cleaned them myself and certainly wouldn’t have bothered the neighbors or the contractor for a couple of dirty windows.

drinkygin · 12/10/2019 19:24

Sorry but yabu. It was unavoidable, your neighbours shouldn’t have to consult with you before having heir driveway washed in case your windows get dirty Confused

Malibucyprus · 12/10/2019 19:25

I’m the first to admit that neighbours can be annoying as, but I think you need to pick your arguments carefully. You’re stuck with them for however long you both live there, is it really worth it over windows?

They’ll need cleaning again within a fortnight anyway.

EC22 · 12/10/2019 19:26

YABU
Windows get dirty.

AllFourOfThem · 12/10/2019 19:26

Windows get grubby quickly. It’s just what happens unfortunately. Window cleaning is cheap so they probably didn’t even think you’d need it to be reimbursed especially considering you probably get some in to clean them monthly anyway.

Zebraaa · 12/10/2019 19:26

First world problems

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 12/10/2019 19:28

Is this a mnet thing to be having windows cleaned constantly? Is there a part of the country where windows get mysteriously filthy? I've lived in my house 4 years and never got them done and they look fine (my friend didn't believe me when I said I hadn't had them done).

Passthecherrycoke · 12/10/2019 19:28

I understand your frustration but I would leave it now for all the reasons mentioned above

BritInUS1 · 12/10/2019 19:29

YABU these things happen! I would be very careful falling out with neighbours this early on !

CatFaceCats · 12/10/2019 19:30

You kinda sound a bit full on - do you really want to start off on the wrong foot?

AllFourOfThem · 12/10/2019 19:30

I've lived in my house 4 years and never got them done and they look fine

I wished mine looked fine but we seem to live by countless massive spiders and have endless webs across the windows. I fear that they will all move in when I open the windows if I don’t get someone to clean all the cobwebs and eggs away. Grin

Trees2905 · 12/10/2019 19:30

Glad you’re not my neighbour Hmm

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 12/10/2019 19:31

Yanbu asking for a tradesperson not to damage or dirty someone’s else property or not clean up but Yabu to expect the neighbours to foot the bill. They hired him he isn’t their employee. Your issue was with the cleaning person alone.

DragonontheWagon · 12/10/2019 19:31

Ours were cleaned a couple of weeks ago, they're already filthy just from the weather etc.

Maybe buy a Karcher other makes available and give them a once over with that in future.

grumpypregnanttired · 12/10/2019 19:33

🤷‍♀️ Windows get dirty. I wouldn’t have paid for your window cleaner if I were your neighbor to be honest. You sound like a bit of a difficult neighbor Confused

missmouse101 · 12/10/2019 19:34

Annoying but best to let it go. I assume you mean detached? Not detouched?? (Whatever that is?)

Raphael34 · 12/10/2019 19:34

Is it really worth all this aggro over them accidentally dirtying your downstairs windows? Presumably they’re not getting their patio cleaned again anytime soon. They even offered to clean them themselves and you fucked them off.

IncrediblySadToo · 12/10/2019 19:35

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland (me either!)

Mine don’t ‘look too bad’ until I get them cleaned & can see the difference and if I’m home when the come I get them to do the insides too.

I have the outsides done monthly & I can always see the difference 🤷🏻‍♀️

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 12/10/2019 19:35

YABU their pavement jet washing is probably an annual event which unfortunately coincided with your window cleaning, no way would I have complained.

IncrediblySadToo · 12/10/2019 19:36

@Gravitsap

Drama Llama. It’s slighky annoying but no more annoying than a bird pooping in the skylight as soon as it’s been done.

MrsBungle · 12/10/2019 19:36

If this happened to me I’d be mildly pissed off. I wouldn’t dream of going round to the neighbours to complain! Your windows would be dirty again in a few days anyway!

missbattenburg · 12/10/2019 19:36

You clearly have more spare shits than I do OP. I couldn't find one to give in this situation, even if I wanted to.

Idontneeditatall · 12/10/2019 19:39

All this talk of “professional” people to clean windows! You make it sound so difficult! Presumably you mean you had to pay a tenner to a window cleaner!! Which is what a lot of people do every few weeks anyway.
If you have a regular window cleaner then they would be cleaner again soon and if you don’t then presumably you’d be cleaning them yourself soon anyway? Ground floor easy to do.

Idontneeditatall · 12/10/2019 19:40

Just read the op again and this is a wind up. Surely.
