Jumperoo at 4 1/2 months?

Hi all,

I've got a very active 4 1/2 month old baby. He doesn't stop - he's constantly on the go, throwing his arms and legs around and chat chat chatting. He's very inquisitive and is grabbing/ chewing everything. He's just started rolling too.

I've got a swing I use and a baby gym but I feel he needs more stimulation. We look at lots of books and he's got various small sensory toys.

WIBU to allow him to play in a jumperoo? From what I understand babies should be 6 months old before using one regularly?

Has anyone got any other ideas as to what I could use at the age he currently is?

Thanks Smile

@Clettercletterthatsbetter I got a Jumperoo because I had a baby that was miserable lying down (reflux) unless constantly entertained by me and I wanted to be able to go to the loo or do chores like washing up without being screamed at. It was nothing to do with wanting to rush their development.

I used a sling extensively but by 4.5 months I found they don't actually like being restrained in the sling when awake, and as a high centile baby were getting too heavy anyway.

I used one from about 4.5 months for short periods of time, although DS was born 2 weeks overdue and was weight bearing on his legs, I had to use a cushion so he could reach the floor. He still had plenty of floor time and was crawling at 6 months at which point he was much happier on the floor - the Jumperoo was then only used to secure him briefly if needed. Like anything, they'd be bad in excess but if you are sensible it's fine.
