Since when is it ok to cut your nails on the bus?!

Just that really! I'm on the bus and a bloke behind me has his nail clippers out and is happily snipping away.

I think it's gross. Am I being unreasonable?

Do you actually need to ask if you are BU?

You’re not expecting anyone to say no, are you?

Chouetted · 09/10/2019 14:31

Probably a bit unreasonable, yes. Unless it's his toenails.

So long as he takes the clippings away with him, it's not hugely gross.

RadicalFern · 09/10/2019 14:35

This has never been ok.

Yanbu

whatisforteamum · 09/10/2019 14:35

A guy I know confronted a.man clipping his toenails on the bus😧😧

DownWentTheFlag · 09/10/2019 14:36

You’ve reminded me about a man at work who sit at his desk and does this. All is quiet and then suddenly SNIP SNIP SNIP SNIP and he’s at it with the nail clippers. On what planet is this acceptable?

Billballbaggins · 09/10/2019 14:37

Saw someone do this sitting waiting for his train at the train station once. Very well dressed in a suit, expensive looking bag. Sat on a bench fully clipping his nails. I was pregnant at the stage where everything was making me feel sick and it took all my self control not to vomit right there

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 09/10/2019 14:37

Not acceptable.

Then at the library yesterday at baby group a woman was painting her nails and wasn’t impressed when the member of staff told her she couldn’t because of the polish smell...

ShartGoblin · 09/10/2019 14:38

I think you must live near me... or there's 2 of them and that doesn't bear thinking about... Grim

chellochello · 09/10/2019 14:41

who even goes about carrying nail clippers!

WidowTwonky · 09/10/2019 14:42

Confession time - a few years ago I was walking around a large shopping centre where I live. DS1 (maybe 4 at the time) was complaining of his toes hurting. He had a sharp toenail cutting the inside of his next toe. Bleeding etc. I nipped into Boots to buy some nail clippers and long story short I sat him on a bench outside Boots (inside shopping centre), removed a sock and snipped his toenail. Used the bin obviously but got a fair few comments directed at me. But I couldn’t see where else I could do it Blush

Excited101 · 09/10/2019 14:44

Had this on a train once, so I told them off and they stopped.

RIBlue · 09/10/2019 14:59

I once sat opposite a woman plucking her chin hairs on the train.

NumberblockNo1 · 09/10/2019 15:00

I pluck chin hairs without realising Im doing it 😳 Sort of a nervous tic.

MySonIsAlsoNamedBort · 09/10/2019 15:01

So disgusting. I'd tell them to stop it and that it's disgusting. But for some reason when I'm on the bus I lose all social etiquette and always tell people to stop doing things, like whistling, playing music on their phone, singing.
I'd never do that to people anywhere but on the bus for some reason, I just have zero fuse on the bus hahahah

tothefareast80 · 09/10/2019 15:24

I live in Asia where this kind of thing is totally normal but still utterly gross. Toenail and finger nail clipping on the bus or train is very common as is overt use of tooth picks on public transport. The worst culprits are the old men who cut their nails but leave the little finger really long and pointy so they can pick their noses Envy- vomit not envy.

RIBlue · 10/10/2019 11:40

@NumberblockNo1 this was with a magnifying mirror and tweezers so not a spontaneous activity!
