To think we need a statute of limitations for posting on zombie threads?

Because recently I’ve lost count of the number of threads I’ve opened and got quite a way into before realising they are zombie threads, some of them dating back to the noughties!

AIBU to think there ought to be some sort of limit, say a month from the last post, after which time the thread can still be read but not reactivated?

I think that, after a certain period, threads should only be able to be reactivated by the OP (it can be nice to get an update). So not quite what you're suggesting, but almost.
