to think there is something to some people being "lucky"

I have entered SO many raffles, lotteries, competitions, even tombolas and never win anything. My MIL and SIL, however, are the type who win something just about every time. I'm sure everyone must know people like this?

I understand chance and probability and odds BUT, even so

AIBU in thinking there may be something to this "luck" thing?

Well, it is down to chance but there are other factors such as the type of competition they enter (less competitive) and the number they enter (much more than you). If you are entering the same competitions at the same frequency, then it’s just chance.

I have a friend who wins every competition she enters, seriously..wins every one, she won a holiday to Florida this Summer. It's a standing joke that theres no point in entering if she is! But she is incredibly unlucky in relation to health issues with her family, lots of serious issues and bad news. Its strange isn't it, how things work out.
