Window cleaners came in the pouring rain

So, I have a relatively big house, sunroom lots of windows. My window cleaners have arrived and it's absolutely pissing rain, not just a few drops but torrential. I didn't notice when they started as I was at the back of the house and now they seem to have gone to their van outside to wait until the rain gets lighter.

AIBU to be a bit peeved at having to part with £20 for windows that won't be remotely clean when dried, ie full of raindrops. I don't know whether to tell them to stop them or not. I mean, they've got to earn a living and it's the UK, so plenty rain, but stil it's bloody pouring!!

Why do you think they can't clean them in the rain? They are cleaning the dirt and dust off, so it doesn't matter if it is raining surely

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 07/10/2019 15:16

Well if the heavy rain had started 2 minutes after they’ve left, surely they would still be covered in raindrops?? Would you then ask for a refund?

I don’t really see the issue

It just doesn't leave a nice finish I've found. I totally agree that they can't only work on dry days, but it's chucking it down.

Apparently my expectations of window cleaners are too high! Grin

I think it is ok for them to do it in the rain. Your windows will be clean.

DerbyRacer · 07/10/2019 15:21

I stopped my window cleaner and do them myself now. I think I do them better then the window cleaner.

Pinkyyy · 07/10/2019 15:21

I'd think they were crazy if they turned up to clean my windows in this weather.

lazylinguist · 07/10/2019 15:22

I don't see why it matters if they do it when it's raining. Even when they do it when it's not raining, it could rain 10 mins after they've finished, or an hour, or the next day, or whatever. What does it matter? It's dirt they're cleaning off, not raindrops!

heartsonacake · 07/10/2019 15:22

YABU. Rain doesn’t affect whether your windows are clean or not. They’re still able to clean them in the rain! Otherwise ‘window cleaner’ wouldn’t be a job in the UK 😂

Floralnomad · 07/10/2019 15:23

If window cleaners didn’t work in the rain in the UK they’d only work for about 3 months of the year , YABU .

Who cleans the insides? that's a window cleaning job too..
