Sending DD back to school after chicken pox

She only started to show spots Thursday morning but they seem to have scabbed over already, she didn't get many. Besides from being itchy she's been completely fine and normal. Wibu to send her back tomorrow?

Fine to go back
Once all the spots have scabbed over. My son was pickled but went back 6 days later as they had all healed and scanned nicely!

If they're all scabbed over then it's fine to go back. Be warned though, some kids get a second wave on day 3-4 so she might wake up with some extra ones tomorrow!

I doubt that's the end of them. It's only Sunday. I would suspect a second wave tomorrow/Tuesday. My kids took 10 days in waves to be fully crusted and blister free.

My dc kept getting spots for 3 or 4 days and were under the weather for around a week. It usually takes a week or sometimes longer for all the spots to come out and scab over.
Thursday through to Sunday seems very quick to me.

Also do you know the schools rule on this? They may not welcome her back.
I would keep her off for tomorrow /Tuesday at least

She might get more later on but I'm not sure since they all came almost at once and she hasn't had any new ones since. The recommended time is 5 days and it will only be 4 by Monday but if there are no new ones she might be okay to go in tomorrow

I’d keep her one extra day to be safe. There may be an immunocompromised kid in her class or school that should not be exposed to it.

Kanga83 · 06/10/2019 19:11

I really would keep her off. She may not get any, she may get some through the day . Recommended is 5-7 days, 4 days from the day is not enough. She could make someone very poorly. 'Might' be able is not the same as being able and to be honest I think it would be a little selfish when people had explained it can come in waves.

I'll keep her off tomorrow just to be safe
