I'm not in the UK so considering signing up for a VPN to be able to watch BBC (really want to watch killing eve). What else have you seen that's good recently?

PooWillyBumBum · 04/10/2019 16:43

The Capture! Although I’ve still to watch the last episode.

AlwaysCheddar · 04/10/2019 16:48

Nothing!

Flippetydip · 04/10/2019 16:48

@PooWillyBumBum - update when you do please - I can't spend another 6 (8?) hours of my life on a supposedly fantastic BBC drama that is absolutely amazing for the first 5 episodes and then bums out in the grown-up equivalent of rushed story-ending "then I woke up and it was all a dream".

@Seedling111 I have loved "What We Do In the Shadows". Slightly random docu-comedy about vampires. Very very funny but needs persevering with. Watch at least 2 episodes before you give up. They are only 30 minutes long

Seedling111 · 04/10/2019 16:49

@PooWillyBumBum

Just googled. Looks good, I like that format and crime/thriller stuff, however war and military contexts dont get me going!

Anything else?!

I was going to say The Capture too, really enjoying it so far.

Bit old now but have you seen Fleabag? It's amazing.

Seedling111 · 04/10/2019 16:50

@Flippetydip
Hmm. Vampires? I may need some convincing!

OP posts:
TeenPlusTwenties · 04/10/2019 16:50

Another vote for The Capture.

Seedling111 · 04/10/2019 16:51

@PooWillyBumBum
No I haven't and I've totally been meaning to, thanks for the reminder!

What was that Attenborough documentary that was a fairly big deal when it came out?

OP posts:
MsBananaHammock · 04/10/2019 16:51

nitgel · 04/10/2019 16:51

Bodies

EmeraldIsle81 · 04/10/2019 16:53

Defending the guilty - it's a new comedy, very funny, well written - give it a go!

nitgel · 04/10/2019 16:54

Some fab old docs on archive esp the 80s design programmes

PuppyMonkey · 04/10/2019 16:55

Lol at Pesky Blinders.Grin

Is Gentleman Jack still on there? That was good. I also quite liked Ghosts, a comedy thing.

Can’t stand Peaky Blinders btw, proper Emperor’s New Clothes stuff. Plus it’s already on Netflix.

Flippetydip · 04/10/2019 16:55

Yep - I know, vampires sounds weird and it's definitely not my normal bag at all, but it is VERY funny. The writing is fantastic.

Also a second vote for Fleabag.

Plus all the Louis Therouxs are on iPlayer and they're always worth a watch.

Seedling111 · 04/10/2019 16:56

@nitgel

Thirteen was great! Love stuff like that

This country is amazing.

23Squared · 04/10/2019 17:06

Another vote for The Capture - it isn't military or war, other than he used to be a soldier.

ViaSacra · 04/10/2019 17:36

Country.

DinosApple · 04/10/2019 17:38

I'm enjoying Defending the Guilty atm, it's comedy though.

tequilasunrises · 04/10/2019 17:50

Also came here to say The Capture

ShinyMe · 04/10/2019 18:02

I think the Capture is hilariously awful. Really really bad, but quite entertainingly so.

Some of my very favourite programmes ever are on BBC - The Repair Shop and Saving Lives at Sea. If you don't know them, The Repair Shop is craft experts repairing old things (clocks, furniture, dolls, boxes, stuff in general) for people, and I love it because they're so skilled, and it's just a lovely, charming, sweet programme.

Saving Lives at Sea follows various RNLI stations and shows footage of various rescues at sea or on the Thames. Very exciting and dramatic, and the RNLI staff are absolutely amazing - so brave and caring.

I also love the Scandi/Euro crime drama slot on Saturday nights. Spiral series 6 is currently being repeated in advance of Series 7 coming up.

I also really like many of the BBC 4 documentaries.

ShinyMe · 04/10/2019 18:04

@23Squared I caught a bit of Defending the Guilty the other day, and really liked it. Thank you for reminding me - I need to check out the rest on iPlayer.

I LOVE This Country! Oh my god, they're so awful and so sweet and funny.
