Dd's just came running in to tell me that next doors 7 yr old was eating an icelolly and the stick said it was vodka and something and that he was giving 4 yr old ds a big chunk.

Made ds spit it out, and told him he is not allowed to eat anything given to him by next door, but I am so pissed off.

I have no idea how strong the icelollies are but i could smell the alcohol when ds spat his bit out.

Nextdoors ds reckons he is allowed to eat them.

Yep exactly.

I didn't even know you could buy vodka ice lollies.

Can't believe them, they are getting worse. Roll on tommorow when they bugger off on their hols for 2 weeks.

Their 2 ds's are at this minute hanging over the fence shouting 'lauren is ugly' (my dd1) over and over again.

MaureenMLove · 13/08/2007 14:07

Are you going to say something about it to them?

Your poor dd1, hope she is giving as good as she gets

nutcracker · 13/08/2007 14:10

LOL Malory

No point saying anything Maureen, to the kids or the parents as they just shrug it off and then start again 5 min later.

I just don't get them at all. Their 18mth old dd walks around the culdesac in her nappy and no shoes, going backwards and forwards across the road, and dissapears down the road on her own and eventually they realise she has gone and sprint off to get her.

Have told the girls to just completely ignore them, they will soon get bored then.

Can I just point out ....
There can't be much by way of alcohol in the lolly, because it is VERY difficult to freeze alcohol. I know because I make ice cream, and can't get them to freeze with liquers in them, unless I warm the custard to allow the alcohol to evaporate off first. If you were to put a bottle of alcohol (such as vodka) in the freezer, the water in it would freeze, but the alcohol content would remain liquid. Hence, the alcohol won't be in the iced lolly.

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 13/08/2007 14:16

am for you! i didnt know there were vodka ice lollies tho...might have to try and ifnd them...jk....who would give vodka to a 7yr old?!?!?!

You're right clumsymum, its probably just vodka flavoured lollies, but still they sound like a right classy bunch to live nextdoor to. Very for you.

nutcracker · 13/08/2007 14:20

Really, only flavouring ? Ah well thats not as bad, but they still piss me right off LOL.

BTW, it sets lovely in jelly - but it'll blows your head off!

nutcracker · 13/08/2007 14:21

Will have to remember that Maureen

I don't think your being unreasonable!
Your next door neighbours' kids think they're having vodka (despite the little or no alcohol content) so when they are offered vodka by someone older say, at the park, they will think 'oh yeah, had that before' and probably take some. It's not really just about what has happened today it is about what could happen if they think vodka -at 7?!?!?- is cool and nothing to worry about.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 13/08/2007 14:29

If you put a bottle of blue vodka in the freezer for a few days, it goes to gloop and blows your head off.

We did this at DH's 40th, on instruction from our weekend guests.

Our lovely neighbour Vicky thought it was great, she had lots and lots. She took two days to recover.

Me.....................well I thought it looked like a madmans drink, and stuck to wine.

clumsymum · 13/08/2007 14:32

Bree, that is because all the water has frozen solid, and you are left with fairly pure alcohol to drink.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 13/08/2007 14:33

Correction.........they were left with solid alcohol to drink.

How smug was I the next day........
