To get in my pyjamas as soon as I get home?

So I work in an office, usual 9-5 job and get home about 6ish on a night. Just before leaving today a colleague asked me what I was doing tonight, so I said oh nothing probably just get in my pyjamas and watch crap TV like usual. She was absolutely gobsmacked that I get home and change into my pyjamas rather than changing into "normal" clothes.

Is this weird? I've done it for years and DP does the exact same. I can't stand being in formal work clothes in my own home and it seems like such a waste of effort to get changed into a t-shirt and jeans just to change clothes again a few hours later.

So what's the norm with this? AIBU for getting into my pyjamas straight away?

I do this if I don't need to go back out!

B00kworm86 · 02/10/2019 19:08

YANBU!!! At all!!! I live in my PJs at home! I actually begrudge having to change back into normal clothes!

Jupiters · 02/10/2019 19:08

If I know I'm not going out again that evening then I'm straight in my PJs!

purplelila2 · 02/10/2019 19:09

Nope I do the exact same! every night too

also stay in pjs at the weekend unless going out

june2007 · 02/10/2019 19:09

Do what you want, do you really need permission?

LakieLady · 02/10/2019 19:11

YANBU!

I love being in my pyjamas. I don't feel right eating dinner wearing pyjamas though, so I don't change into them until after we've eaten.

CalamityJune · 02/10/2019 19:11

This is very fine. My only caveat to this is if I am going to cook, as I don't want my actual pyjamas to smell of food, so i usually put leggings or joggers and a tshirt on, then get changed for bed at bedtime.

CupoTeap · 02/10/2019 19:12

I e worked from home in my pjs

DanielRicciardosSmile · 02/10/2019 19:16

YANBU. I would live in pyjamas if I could.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 02/10/2019 19:17

I do this too.

My dress code at work is relaxed - jeans, t-shirts and trainers. Actually, most of us wear slippers once we're there...

To 'dress down' after work pyjamas are my only option. So on they go.

I once had a mate who put her shoes on in the morning when she got dressed and KEPT THEM ON for the entire day.

theydontknowweknow · 02/10/2019 19:18

YANBU I could live in my PJs. Your colleague is BU for getting changed twice on a night!

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 02/10/2019 19:18

YANBU! The sooner I can get back in my pj’s the better! Sometimes it’s before dinner time at a weekend!!!

Swer987 · 02/10/2019 19:19

YANBU. I do this too!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 02/10/2019 19:20

I get home and have a shower - put joggers and sweatshirt on and that's it for the evening! However, when DH and I first got together, I used to shower and then put nice jeans and top on with decent shoes! Not any more!!

Oneupp · 02/10/2019 19:21

Winter is definitively night clothes, summer where I'll be out watering the garden etc I'd probably be still in work clothes. I don't change to casual clothes from work clothes eve

forevercurious · 02/10/2019 19:21

If im home my pjs are on :)

SummerHouse · 02/10/2019 19:21

I so do this and I care nothing of anyone having an issue with it.

Each to their own.

that said, people who don't do it are weird

ParkheadParadise · 02/10/2019 19:22

I'm always in my jammies as soon as I come home.
I've been known to stay in them all weekend if I'm not going out.

Jent13c · 02/10/2019 19:22

I get into pjs as soon as I get home for the day. Lived with my MIL for 9 months and we were in a constant game of who got pjs on first. Was brought up in a 'pjs are only for bed family'...I know which way I prefer.

WeNeedABudget · 02/10/2019 19:22

I change into m pyjamas the minute I get home too. Almost nothing makes me happier.

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon that was a Flylady thing to get dressed ‘to shoes’ to make you more productive which kind of does make sense and is probably the reason I’m so unproductive when I get home Grin

feliciabirthgiver · 02/10/2019 19:24

Pjs here (after commute home from work), just poured a glass of wine which tastes so much better when reclining on the sofa dressed in Pjs!

7Worfs · 02/10/2019 19:25

Voted YABU because:

  1. Need to shower before bed
  2. My grandma drilled it into me that pyjamas belong in bed only. No exceptions, ever.
CTRL · 02/10/2019 19:26

I thought that was the norm.

Does anyone else have thier ‘indoor clothes’ that you wear in the privacy of your home and not out and about. Then your ‘Outdoor clothes’ that you go out in ?

Moonmaker · 02/10/2019 19:26

Pyjamas all around here . Not even leggings or joggers but pjs. I get home , put dinner on in my work clothes , throw work shirt in the wash , shower and pyjamas . The kids shower straight from school and get into pyjamas and if we're not going out on the weekend we stay in them.

Tetrus · 02/10/2019 19:28

YABU- I sleep naked.
Only joking😅, but I actually prefer to put on leggings/tracksuit for the evening, and save Pjs for bed
