To get in my pyjamas as soon as I get home?

So I work in an office, usual 9-5 job and get home about 6ish on a night. Just before leaving today a colleague asked me what I was doing tonight, so I said oh nothing probably just get in my pyjamas and watch crap TV like usual. She was absolutely gobsmacked that I get home and change into my pyjamas rather than changing into "normal" clothes.

Is this weird? I've done it for years and DP does the exact same. I can't stand being in formal work clothes in my own home and it seems like such a waste of effort to get changed into a t-shirt and jeans just to change clothes again a few hours later.

So what's the norm with this? AIBU for getting into my pyjamas straight away?

But even if you really have no plans, you don't literally only sit on the sofa. Cook and eat and do some chores etc - wouldn't want to wear the same clothes I've had on for this to bed. Or you mean you change into another pair of PJs for sleeping?

kateandme · 02/10/2019 21:01

Oh how I love my pjs.shes missing out on one of life's only true realeases/pleasures.id give her a hug.

MrsTumbletap · 02/10/2019 21:14

Saw this only yesterday and sent it to DH in complete agreement!

It's all about getting the bra off. I don't notice my bra when at work but suddenly when I get home I want it off.

My mum never did this. She wears jeans to relax in and always looks chic. I am not her daughter it would appear.

VanillaChai20 · 02/10/2019 21:15

Yep, shower as soon as I get home from work and then nightie on...but then I put my comfy tracksuit bottoms and massive warm jumper on top, so it's the best of both worlds - don't have to change twice, AND can still answer the door if I need to Grin

PookieDo · 02/10/2019 21:16

I told my boss I did this and she looked at me like I had 5 heads
Then divulged she sleeps naked Confused
I WASNT TALKING ABOUT SLEEPING

I have to walk my dog in the evening so I am always stressing to get the walk done so the PJ’s can go on. I bought myself 2 pairs of nice ones lately and I love them so much

Leftielefterson · 02/10/2019 21:17

I love my pyjamas and love putting them on when I get home. As another poster said if I’m cooking I’ll cook first (I loathe stinking of cooking), shower and then get into my pyjamas.

Looking into matching pyjamas for us for Christmas (so uncool I know but I don’t care).

PookieDo · 02/10/2019 21:18

I will do my jobs before putting them on. So they are clean

I have special leggings and tops for ‘indoors doing things’

Ginqueen20 · 02/10/2019 21:22

I wear pjs as soon as I’m home too, if it’s a weekend and I don’t plan on going out at all I stay in pjs all day! Nothing better than free boobs Grin 2 types of people: us in our pjs and those who wear jeans to relax in Grin

EntropyRising · 02/10/2019 21:22

Oh gosh if I'm home, I'm in my cozies.

I have 4 identical pairs of leggings, 4 identical pairs of top-layer leggings for winter, 4 identical thermal long sleeve undershirts and quite a lot of downgraded lounging jumpers that I don't really wear out anymore.

So, always clean, always on.

Teenagemaw · 02/10/2019 21:25

If i have to leave the house later on i choose jammies that could be mistaken for clothes.

ForeverAlone1987 · 02/10/2019 21:25

I do exactly the same. Bath and then pjs. Even if I go out, come home for an hour and then back out, I will always put my pjs on. I wear clean pjs every night. Hate wearing outdoor clothes in my house lol

EntropyRising · 02/10/2019 21:26

I put on a pair of leggings & a jumper, wear them to make dinner and go to bed.

notso · 02/10/2019 21:28

Urgh, I hate pyjamas.
They're cute for little kids or Bert and Ernie.
One of my pet hates is my adult DD wearing pyjamas all the time, especially for dinner.

boringisasboringdoes · 02/10/2019 21:28

Think of the environmental benefits - less washing, clothes last longer etc

Also thank you to the naked sleepers for explaining what they do as I have wondered about this

Abouttimemum · 02/10/2019 21:31

Joggers and hoody in the house for me, within seconds of arriving home.

ShirleyPhallus · 02/10/2019 21:32

I have a shower when I get home from work, and put on leggings, a vest and soft cup sports bra. Then I keep the bra on and change the leggings for softy shorts for bed

I have clean pjs to sleep in each night

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 02/10/2019 21:32

My grandma drilled it into me that pyjamas belong in bed only. No exceptions, ever

Ah, no: that's so not right. I put my PJs on when I get home from work (especially in winter). And then I take them off for bed. I can't be doing with clothing in bed Blush

RhiWrites · 02/10/2019 21:32

I have 4 modes. Work me is fairly well groomed in professional workwear. Then most days I go to the gym so I’m in active wear for that. Jeans are for some of the in between bits. (Eg working from home.) Then comfy PJs or yoga pants for chilling.

FizzyIce · 02/10/2019 21:33

I always do this so I hate it if someone then knocks on the door as I don’t want to answer in my pj’s Blush
Was super annoyed today as had to stay in my normal clothes when I got I as had a parcel coming and he turned up at 8:30pm! Grrr

BlueChangeling · 02/10/2019 21:34

In our house when growing up we were only allowed to put our pj's on after our night time bath which was always about an hour before bed and at the weekend we'd to be up and properly dressed by 11.00am. Even on rainy days when we where soaked though on the way home from School we'd to put our proper clothes on until bed time.

Since I've moved into my own place I put them on as soon as I walk through the door, my sister is the same. I do have different types ones for lounging about the house and ones for sleeping in.

I must admit, and my husband finds this hilarious, if either of my parents text and ask to nip round for a bit even if it's just to collect something at the door quickly I jump up like a shot and get dressed like Clark Kent... I know they wouldn't tell me off but I can't bare the thought of the judgy look I know I'd get Grin

constantlyseekinghappiness · 02/10/2019 21:35

I’m in the joggers and vest top camp!

I then put jammies on for bed.

But joggers are on as soon as I’ve walked in the door.... I don’t even say hello to my partner first Blush

Nat6999 · 02/10/2019 21:36

I only get dressed if I'm going out, I have ME & find normal clothes irritating, I have pyjamas for daytime & different ones for sleeping. My daytime ones look more like leisure wear & night time ones are thinner & sometimes more like children's.

GreySheep · 02/10/2019 21:38

YANBU

If I’m in for the night, the PJ’s are on.
Doesn’t matter if it’s 3:30 or 10pm.
So long as I’m not going back out again, once I’m in, I’m in PJ’s.

WineIsMyCarb · 02/10/2019 21:38

Don't you all have 'house scruffs'? We tend to dress fairly smartly (on days we have our shit together!) so as soon as we get home it's tracksuit bottoms, t shirts, jumpers etc. All shades of greys, navy etc. Perfectly fine to answer door or 'receive visitors' but all elasticated and fine to spill chocolate on!
