To get in my pyjamas as soon as I get home?

So I work in an office, usual 9-5 job and get home about 6ish on a night. Just before leaving today a colleague asked me what I was doing tonight, so I said oh nothing probably just get in my pyjamas and watch crap TV like usual. She was absolutely gobsmacked that I get home and change into my pyjamas rather than changing into "normal" clothes.

Is this weird? I've done it for years and DP does the exact same. I can't stand being in formal work clothes in my own home and it seems like such a waste of effort to get changed into a t-shirt and jeans just to change clothes again a few hours later.

So what's the norm with this? AIBU for getting into my pyjamas straight away?

If I’m home and in for the night, the pjs are on and the bra is off!! YANBU!

PinkiOcelot · 02/10/2019 19:29

I love getting in to my pyjamas when I get in from work. Bliss!
I think it’s weird getting home and changing into “ordinary” clothes and then changing again into pjs later.

squishee · 02/10/2019 19:30

Yanbu, just do what works for you.

Once home I change into jersey "house clothes", a comfy sports bra (which my DFiancé removes after dinner), and MOST IMPORTANTLY fluffy socks and slippers / slipper boots.

U2HasTheEdge · 02/10/2019 19:31

I always have PJs on in the house. I will put PJs on then get changed again if I am going back out.

I will wear clothes when I have company though, unless it is my mum.

U2HasTheEdge · 02/10/2019 19:33

My grandma drilled it into me that pyjamas belong in bed only. No exceptions, ever.

I don't wear them for bed. I sleep completely naked.

Oysterbabe · 02/10/2019 19:33

My work clothes are casual. I put PJs on just before bed.

squishee · 02/10/2019 19:36

Yes CTRL, absolutely.
Some clothes are indoor clothes, for comfort only and not to be seen dead in worn outside (usually once they have faded or the hems have given way).

MabelMoo23 · 02/10/2019 19:37

Getting in to pjs when you get home from work? Best feeling ever

I also sleep naked so take my pjs off to go to bed

Nononononono33 · 02/10/2019 19:38

I have a middle option of lounge pants (mostly from M&S) and t shirt (fleece too if it’s cold) that I tend to wear in the evenings when I get in as I also hate wearing my work clothes in the house. I change out of these into jimmy jams at bedtime. Works well for me.

Every day. Jeans are just as uncomfortable as work clothes so why bother doing that?

joffreyscoffee · 02/10/2019 19:40

Doesn't everyone do this? Surely getting changed into 'normal clothes' (whatever that means) just creates more washing?

Northernsoullover · 02/10/2019 19:40

Sometimes in winter mine will go on at 3pm. I shower in the morning so pjs are fair game.

22Giraffes · 02/10/2019 19:42

Of course YANBU! I would live in my pjs for the rest of my life if I could

ShirleyPhallus · 02/10/2019 19:44

Anyone who wears jeans to relax in is a verified psychopath

Jeans are formal wear. May as well wear a corset and ball gown.

Catsandchardonnay · 02/10/2019 19:45

Are they seriously people that exist that don’t do this? Sometimes I’m sat at work fantasising about being in my dressing gown Grin

Serenity45 · 02/10/2019 19:45

YANBU! YABU if you don't take your bra off as well though Grin

Me and DH both love the loungewear

Mydogmylife · 02/10/2019 19:49

Love my pjs -called comfies in our house so we can wear them any time without feeling guilty!

lissie123 · 02/10/2019 19:51

I love putting my pjs on when I get back home from work. But I know someone got sacked at work for persistently turning up for work in their PJs. So I don’t do that!

ShirleyPhallus · 02/10/2019 19:54

@lissie123 what job were they doing to try and get away with wearing pyjamas to work??

Frenchfancy · 02/10/2019 19:54

YANBU but I don't do it except for exceptional circumstances(eg coming home wet because of rain). I don't change though, just stay in my work stuff (smart but not formal) . DDs only get dressed at the weekend to go out but don't change out of school clothes when they get home.

Chloemol · 02/10/2019 19:54

I wfh. I do get dressed as I need to often go out, but have been known to stay in pjs all day. As soon as it gets to 6/6.30 on go the pjs. Nothing nicer in cold horrid weather than pjs and a big fluffy dressing gown.

Newmumma83 · 02/10/2019 19:56

I do my favourite thing to do is shower or bath and pj on x

Fstar · 02/10/2019 19:56

Pjs or comfy clothes not matter what time i get home

DappledThings · 02/10/2019 19:57

DH and I get into our pyjamas when the DC are in the bath every night. Before DC it was usually even earlier as soon as we got in.

lissie123 · 02/10/2019 19:57

@ShirleyPhallus-it was a call centre
