To get in my pyjamas as soon as I get home?

So I work in an office, usual 9-5 job and get home about 6ish on a night. Just before leaving today a colleague asked me what I was doing tonight, so I said oh nothing probably just get in my pyjamas and watch crap TV like usual. She was absolutely gobsmacked that I get home and change into my pyjamas rather than changing into "normal" clothes.

Is this weird? I've done it for years and DP does the exact same. I can't stand being in formal work clothes in my own home and it seems like such a waste of effort to get changed into a t-shirt and jeans just to change clothes again a few hours later.

So what's the norm with this? AIBU for getting into my pyjamas straight away?

YANBU. Nuff said.

Redwinestillfine · 02/10/2019 19:58

Your house your rules. I get into PJ's when kids are in bed if I'm not going anywhere and DH gets into his 'house pants' and a vest ( he doesn't wear PJ's) as soon as he's back.

Pumpkinbell · 02/10/2019 19:59

YANBU!!!! Me Dh and Dd do this after work and school if we are not going back out! Saves on washing not putting normal clothes on after work too.

StripyHorse · 02/10/2019 20:00

YANBU. Strangely though I can be in PJs all evening but don't like staying in PJs in the morning. I think it's the act of getting changed to feel like I am ready for the day / I have finished work that I need.

QueenWhatevraWanabi · 02/10/2019 20:01

It would be unreasonable not to wear pjs as much as possible imo

AnnieOH1 · 02/10/2019 20:07

I'm going against the grain here and agreeing with your colleague.

I work from home 90% of the time but will still be "suited n booted". The only informal thing I've got on right now are fitflops. PJs won't be on till after evening shower just before bed.

I'm just not comfortable in loungewear. I'm far happier in something structured. But then I don't find bras or even shapewear uncomfortable.

My gran would have killed me if I even attempted to wear PJs before bed. She didn't like breakfast in PJs let alone anything else. And my parents and husband would assume I was ill!

QuestionableMouse · 02/10/2019 20:09

I live in Pj's if I'm not going out.

highlandcoo · 02/10/2019 20:11

I'm going against the grain too as wouldn't do this, however I do have comfy clothes to change into in the evening. Leggings and a big loose jumper and slipper boots, or in summer a soft stretchy maxi dress. I don't own a pair of pyjamas mind you. Maybe I'm missing something?

thinking2019 · 02/10/2019 20:13

Me too! I come home get the work clothes off walk the dogs and then bath/shower and pjs on. I feel aggrieved if I have to go anywhere on a work night! I change in to a nightie before bed as I get too hot in full pjs though. Nice cosy nights now with pjs and a blanket and the pooches. Nothing better.

24hourshomeedderandcarer · 02/10/2019 20:13

ive been doing this for years

i wear pajamas if i dont go out

i only get dressed if im going anywhere

indoors its pajamas or nighties

i own more nightclothes than outdoor clothes

i get up have a bath then put on clean pajamas,if we decide to go out its normal clothes then when i get in its back in pajamas, same with a bra its only on if im outside

i am my user name though so dont go out to "work"

cacklingmags · 02/10/2019 20:16

I work from home. My dresscode is jim jams, odd socks, big jumper with biscuit crumbs down it. I brush of the crumbs for an important call.

Jayaywhynot · 02/10/2019 20:22

Bra off & I'm in my pjs as soon as I get in just after 5pm. If my bra goes back on before the following morning the house is on fire or theres been a nuclear explosion Grin

Duchessgummybuns · 02/10/2019 20:26

Sometimes I feel annoyed with myself when I’ve sat at home and realised I’ve been wearing a bra longer than necessary, YANBU

brighteyeowl17 · 02/10/2019 20:26

Me and hubby do this automatically. We wear like office clothes and they are not comfy

AnnaMariaDreams · 02/10/2019 20:27

I am only dressed if I am about to leave the house. I live in PJs at home.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 02/10/2019 20:27

Love pjs! Make up, jewellery, work clothes all come off and pjs go on pronto!

adaline · 02/10/2019 20:28

I do this! Yesterday the weather was awful so I walked the dog early and was back in pyjamas by 9am Grin

FunOnTheBeach20 · 02/10/2019 20:29

I do this when I know I’m not going back out!

Undies1990 · 02/10/2019 20:30

YANBU! I change in to PJ's as soon as I get home from work if I've got no plans to go out again that day (and I finish work at 3pm!) The irony is when bedtime comes, I take my PJ's off as I can't sleep wearing them!

I would say putting PJs on after work is pretty normal.

Mummadeeze · 02/10/2019 20:30

I put on my cat print onesie and bed socks. It is too hot for bed so I change into pjs before bed.

Thegreymethod · 02/10/2019 20:32

I would live in pjs if I could, I can't relax till they're on! If I know I'm going out again I put my dressing gown on over my clothes 😬
I don't trust people who can sit and relax in jeans!

CaptainPovey · 02/10/2019 20:34

Nope. Mainly elasticated waists are grow bags

I change into jeans

ChevalierTialys · 02/10/2019 20:34

Does anyone else have thier ‘indoor clothes’ that you wear in the privacy of your home and not out and about. Then your ‘Outdoor clothes’ that you go out in ?

@CTRL I have indoor clothes! I absolutely love my fluffy comfy trousers and baggy t shirts.

I rarely wear any clothing in bed so while my indoor clothes are actually pyjamas, they only get used for that if it's really cold!

I get home and get straight into my indoor clothes and I really really resent it if I find I have to change back into outdoor clothes and go back out again. My rule is: once the bra is off, I'm in and staying in.

ChevalierTialys · 02/10/2019 20:39

@MabelMoo23 feel like I've found my people

FizzyPink · 02/10/2019 20:44

I literally only ever take off my PJs if I have to leave the house. Today I worked from home in the afternoon so changed into PJs after lunch and was devastated when I realised I needed to change into leggings and a hoodie to go to Sainsbury’s.
Each to their own but people wearing jeans to sit around their own house are weird.
