To be petrified of a frog?

I'm at home sick for a couple of days and DP is away. Just went downstairs and one of the cats has brought a frog in.

It turns out I am very scared of frogs.

I'm now crying in my bedroom considering texting the neighborhood watch group (where I know noone) asking someone to come and get the frog.

Or i can just stay up here til DP gets back tonight.

Or move.

How happy are you with dp?
Maybe the frog is worth a kiss??

Tarchie · 01/10/2019 10:23

I’m exactly the same Joris. I cannot bear frogs, even just reading about them in your post. I would definitely ask someone to come in and pick it up for you otherwise you’ll be stuck all day. You have my sympathy. 🤢

Do you have an old Tupperware box ?...drop it over the frog so frog is under it... carefully slide the lid under (bit by bit so you don't hurt the frog)..take outside and let the frog go in the garden.....

It can't harm you op, you can do it, if it's the frog skin that creeps you out then can you wear gloves...

Also while you are hiding in another room, it could wander off and then you won't know where in your house it has gone to...best to deal with it and get it outside asap then you can get on with your day

I'm not scared of them but I wouldn't want to touch one. Call someone to deal with it for you.

YANBU, my mum has a phobia of frogs. When I was a kid we had a neighbour with a pond, and because of that, frogs were always coming into our garden and sometimes even into our house. Dad would have to get rid of them. One time after he died, a frog got into the house and Mum was in my room and couldn't get out. Luckily my gran found it and threw it back over the wall. I remember one time we went on a walk, and this weeny little frog jumped out in front of her and she just started crying and couldn't move. She can't even go into places where they're in glass cases. It is a genuine thing. Phobias are weird like that, they're not always rational.

Anyone on my street would come and do that for you (not neighbourhood watch but we do have a messenger group). I say send the message out.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 01/10/2019 10:27

I saw a toad in person last summer and I was terrified of it shudder

Grannybags · 01/10/2019 10:30

My cats did that - I could bear to touch it so put a bucket over it. But the frog kept jumping and moving the bucket so I pinned it down with the heaviest book I could find- the family Bible. DH came home to find a random bucket and Bible in the middle of the lounge. He thought I’d joined some random cult Smile

Being indoors and near your cats is not good for the frog - it cant feed, it will dehydrate and it is likely to get "plated" with and injured. Maybe get a hold of yourself and rescue it? It can feel pain and fear and suffer just like your pets and you know you'd want someone to help them if they were in distress.

SwizzelStick · 01/10/2019 10:34

Send the text to your neighbour group. The poor thing needs to be out in its own environment, not trapped indoors all day which could be harmful to it.

Tractorgirlz · 01/10/2019 10:35

Frogs are great! I love to see them! Please don’t hurt it, message someone to get it out for you.

Mrsjayy · 01/10/2019 10:40

Oh no bet the cat is bloody pleased with it's self Is the frog alive ? You need to take a breath get a box or box lid and shoo frog out if it is still alive you can do it the longer you stay hiding the bigger and slimier this frog is going to get !

JorisBonson · 01/10/2019 10:41

The WhatsApp group came to the rescue, I am frog free and now know my neighbour opposite.

Frog's safe, you're safe. Good result.
