To be unable to get my toddler's pyjamas on?

She is cavorting around the room in her nappy (which I only just got on) giggling and shouting PEPPA because she wants her Peppa pyjamas on, except when I go to put them on she shrieks and wriggles away like a fish

Normally I just hold her firmly and get on with it but she is being so funny I can't help collapsing in giggles which is making her more silly

Does this sort of nonsense happen in other houses? I've given up and started scrolling Mumsnet until we are both ready to get on with it!

Sounds perfectly normal to me - what’s the point of stressing?!

SimonJT · 29/09/2019 19:48

My son wouldn’t put his on tonight, no biggie, just put him to bed without them.

Drabarni · 29/09/2019 19:49

Aw, she sounds lovely, I can't wait for my dgd to be at that stage.
She's having a game with you and mummy/daddy/whoever wins when dd has got them on.
Old cliche, treasure these memories, mine are so fond. Thanks

StopThatCat · 29/09/2019 20:06

Mine has gone to bed dressed as a unicorn, complete with horn and Velcro tail! Confused

Peppapigpyjamasarentonmychild · 29/09/2019 20:07

Not stressing at all, just wanted to share

It was funny but I don't know how someone so small can be so good at avoiding capture'

I have a 1.5 and 3.5 year old. Having 2 is so useful for getting them to do stuff.
Oh look I think DS is going to get his PJs on first!
Noooooooooo

TheDarkPassenger · 29/09/2019 20:10

5 year old still does it.. if it’s gone on too long I walk off and she shrieks that I must come back and help her 🙄

ZogorElmer · 29/09/2019 20:11

My almost 3 year old wouldn’t put his pj’s on tonight so I left the room and he soon cried for me to come back st help. It was one of those nights where he stalls at everything.

SmallPinkBear · 29/09/2019 20:11

My 3 year old likes to run around naked and then hide under her bed where I can’t reach her 😂
I should add she does this nearly every night 🙈

Neverender · 29/09/2019 20:12

They're pretty wriggly but my DD now 2.5yrs proves to me she can put them on herself...she likes a challenge...they're so funny Smile

Bringonspring · 29/09/2019 20:12

Stop that cat brilliant!!!!

My 2 year old can undress herself so there is no point putting her in them unless she really wants to be in them!!

NearlyGranny · 29/09/2019 20:13

They're worse in the bath when wet and slippery.

My first thought was of course you can:t get a toddler's PJ's on - they're too small for you! 😆

tigger001 · 29/09/2019 20:26

OP that sounds lovely. I love moments like that when you know you need to just get something done but they are just so funny you can't.

I was trying to do downtime reading before bed with my DS (just turned 2), he kept grabbing my hair and putting it on his top lip shouting "muussttachhee" (moustache)

He is soooo funny, I bloody love it

DeadButDelicious · 29/09/2019 20:34

Mine has a favourite dress (we've had to buy doubles of it she likes it that much) and there have been nights where we've had to let her sleep in it because that thing isn't coming off without a fight. It's her 'favit' apparently. Grin
