Adventurer567 · 28/09/2019 20:39

  1. Just watched the OddsMonkey video
  • are they any good and do they charge for using them?
  1. Do I need a separate bank account for matched betting? Eg should I open another current account with a different bank?
  2. Can I do matched betting from my iPhone as I have a laptop but don’t use it and find things easier to do from my phone
Thanks! And any more info/ tips recommended!

@larrygrylls I disagree. I spend maybe an hour or two each evening (work 4 days per week plus 2 small children) and have been making a minimum of £600 per month over the last 6 months (£1500 last month and £900 so far this month).

frenchknitting · 29/09/2019 18:01

I found the oddsmonkey calculators worth paying the £18 per month for. It also got you 0% commission fees at smarkets. Do the free trial to see what you think.

I made £1k in a few months, just on my phone on the bus home from work.

Once you have done all the easy offers, however, you need more time and a bigger bank to keep making money. People do make money long term, but for me, it seemed like too much effort. I didn't want to do many casino offers (too dull, spinning through £100s), and didn't like the potential variance in some of the more popular offers. I also started getting restricted by some of the better "bet club" bookies.

There is a decent sum of money there for the taking though with very little effort.

CaveMum · 29/09/2019 18:02

@AufderAutobahn absolutely, most people who Matched Bet do so alongside their regular job. It’s one of those things that you get out what you put in, so if you can only do, say, 5 hours a week, you will make less than someone who can do 10 hours.

It’s pretty easy to make £300 per month with very little effort.

PeopleMover · 29/09/2019 18:12

I started at the beginning of the month and have been doing it half-heartedly. I've made just over £200 with very little effort, just working my way through the opening offers.

I'm very new to it, so not sure how it works long-term but definitely worth it for a bit of easy cash!

Pootin · 29/09/2019 18:19

@larrygrylls it looks like you’re describing spread betting or dutching rather that matched betting which it primarily raking bookies offers to make a profit.

I disagree that it’s time consuming or a ‘little’ money but like anything, the more you’re willing to learn, the more you can make.

peoplepleaser1 · 29/09/2019 18:20

How good at numbers do you need to be to make matches betting work?

CaveMum · 29/09/2019 18:21

There’s one guy on the TeamProfit Facebook page who has made over £100k in just over 2 years. He does it full-time and is definitely one of the MB Gurus!

Of course most of us will probably never be in a position to be able to do it full time, but it goes to show the money is out there to be made if you are prepared to put in the time and effort.

@peoplepleaser1 I wouldn’t say you need to be great with numbers as you use special calculators to work out your lay bets. Of course you will find it easier if you generally grasp numbers easily, but it’s not an essential.

titchy · 29/09/2019 18:33

Larry that's trading/arbing not MB. Legitimate yes, but not what people are talking about here.

Andonandonan · 29/09/2019 18:42

@peoplepleaser1 you don’t - you just need to be able to follow instructions & do steps in the right order. It’s pretty boring but very easy!

Andonandonan · 29/09/2019 18:43

@Adventurer567 yes it’s totally tax free

Mrsboombastic99 · 29/09/2019 18:46

I highly recommend team profit. I don't think the odds monkey subscription is worth it when you're just starting out. Team profit have a Web page and Facebook group which is really helpful. Matched betting has been amazing for me. It seems complicated at first but once you get the hang of it, it's quite simple :)

CoffeeBag · 29/09/2019 18:48

I have just started (waiting for 2nd offer to settle). I spent a couple of weeks thinking about it and reading up on it but still don’t feel totally confident. I’m following the team profit £100 guide but now nearly all of that is tied up as I won in the bookies rather than on the exchange. It was only through reading about it on mn that I became convinced enough to try it. I have no idea how to is free spins and other offers so I’m ignoring them for now. Team Profit newbies on fb is very useful.

GenderApostate19 · 29/09/2019 18:58

Matched betting is NOT gambling, it’s guaranteed profit for the basic bet and get stuff, it becomes more complicated if you branch out into advanced stuff though.
Casino is very profitable but obviously not guaranteed, I’ve made £5k Matched betting and £10k on casino in 10 months.
I do @ 3 hours a day.
The more cash you can start with, the faster you build your ‘bank’.

GenderApostate19 · 29/09/2019 19:03

Oddsmonkey is £17 montly subs, you will save triple that amount just by integrating smarkets and getting 0% commission.
I’ve layed £4k in September, if I had paid commission it would have been £80 and I don’t do very many bets!

foxywheaton75 · 29/09/2019 19:40

Place marking, thank you.

Adventurer567 · 29/09/2019 20:16

Thanks everyone for advice!
I’ll start with Team Profit hopefully.
Keep the tips and any pitfalls coming thanks!

Thank you, thus is on this week's To Do list!

CalishataFolkart · 29/09/2019 20:30

I have never heard of this and am completely ignorant - can someone please explain how this is risk free and £K profitable with a £25 initial investment and no special maths skills?

I’m not suggesting it isn’t, but “when something sounds too good to be true...”

YesQueen · 29/09/2019 20:33

@CalishataFolkart it's effectively exploiting free bets. You can use an online calculator and oddsmatchers so little maths skills required
I found the save the student guide the easiest to understand
Casino is low risk (so you can lose) not no risk but also profitable
I always thought it sounded complicated and I would lose all my money, and I wish I had started earlier

Gracie300 · 29/09/2019 20:40

Would you recommend opening a new bank account before starting?

NettleTea · 29/09/2019 20:44

Ive made about 11K so far,. I took a break over the summer and am just about to get back into it to finish up all the opening offers I didnt manage to get done as Im restricted on a whole bunch of bookies now.

YesQueen · 29/09/2019 20:51

@Gracie300 yes, I use starling

Gracie300 · 29/09/2019 20:51

NettleTea, in what amount of time if you don’t mind me asking?

Gracie300 · 29/09/2019 20:53

@YesQueen Thanks, will take a look!
