Hinckley Sainsbury's parking 'fine'

I have just received a parking charge notice from Horizon Parking saying I did not validate my parking before leaving the car park at Sainbury's in Hinckley
. Sainbury's issues a ticket which you scan in a machine at the car park to validate your stay. I KNOW that we followed the correct procedures but we have no evidence. I can only assume that their machine did not work properly. Am interested to know if anyone else visiting the Sainbury's in Hinckley, Leicestershire has experienced the same problem.

Don't fret. Companies that run in Sainsbury's car parks do this quite a bit.

Just dispute it. It will be ok.

@MorvilleMum

Do not deal with the parking company. Write a letter to the store manager [find out his name] - not an e-mail which is not important - and get him to cancel it. They most certainly can. Get the local paper involved.

Please remember that a "debt" can only be enforced if it has been to court. All other approaches [debt collectors etc] are just "bluff". The burden of proof is on the claimant [SB or Parking Company] to prove what they say. Simply bat any approaches back to them [Recorded delivery] "I deny this. Take me to court". Nothing more. They probably will drop the matter. If they do not then small claims court and have your say.

There is an industry appeals body [which they should have told you about] called POPLA. They are not particularly independent but give a first line. I would not bother but if you do and they turn you down then "court". It's not frightening but you need evidence

MorvilleMum, I also received a parking fine from Sainsburys Hinckley a few weeks ago, I didn't even realise you had to get a ticket and get it validated Blush, I used the self service tills.
Anyway got the fine through and I emailed Horizon to explain the situation, I also attached a copy of my receipt to prove I'd shopped, luckily I purchased clothes so I'd kept the receipt. They acknowledged my email and said they would look into it for me.
Two weeks later I've received a letter form Horizon to say on this occasion they will waive the parking fine Smile
I think you'll definitely be fine as you followed the procedure.
Good luck
