To think my brother was rude?

So brother came over late afternoon to collect niece as I’d offered to look after her during the day.

My DD12 was eating an ice lolly and twice he asked her if it was nice. To which she was replied it was.

Third time he said he was tired of asking and took it off her, licked it and then gave it her back.

He seemed to think she was rude for not sharing.

That's weird. Couldn't he have had his own lolly if he wanted? Or asked her directly if he could try it?

Sounds like something my brother would do tbh. But in a banter way. He's very close to my kids though. Are you sure he didn't mean it in a jokey way? Like 'you won't even offer your uncle a lick/ lolly?'

I don't think anyone would ever expect to share an ice lolly.

If he wanted a lolly he should have asked. You'd not take food off anyone else why is it ok to take it from a kid.

My family will often ask for a taste or a lick of whatever but we'd never take something out of someone's hands without asking first.

So instead of asking for a taste he repeats ‘is it nice’ then takes it away and licks it?!
