Anyone with Sinus problems around? Can crying make them flare up?

Had a long bout of crying on and off yesterday due to tiredness and not feeling well with my chronic pain condition, and think the sniffing has made my sinuses unhappy. Is that a thing? Google isn't being helpful at all, just says crying a lot is common with depression Hmm I'm not depressed! Just concerned about my sinuses now on top of other health crap.

I have a thumping sensation in a back upper tooth when I bend at all, including just sitting to pee or leaning slightly to stack the dishwasher ffs. Dentist xrayed that tooth when this happened before and said it looked fine with no abscess and most likely cause was it pressing on sinus which is very close above it? The feeling resolved itself then. Also had a few days with mild but persistant headaches behind my eyes last week. I usually don't really get headaches like that. Have no real mucous or anything though?

I don't have long crying spells very often, is it likely it could have inflamed the sinuses?

Yes, it makes them swell which causes congestion and pain. You can reduce the swelling with medication and I find a hot water bottle held over the painful area helps. Spicy food will also get things moving and open them up, allow them to drain and then the swelling goes down.

I'm sorry to hear this, but YABU a bit to post on here, what is your "AIBU?"

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health is a good board to start with for this kind of issue. 19 topics have been replied to already today so if you're posting for traffic... you might be "seen" quicker also on there

Which leads me to the thought that really, this is a GP issue and I couldn't advise you more to go and book an appointment with them, as you have a number of complaints which cross over and could require a holistic approach.

Cold pack may also be helpful

My sinuses aren't too bad at the mo. But have been reall painful in the past and if I get a cold it always ends up on my sinuses. I definitely think crying flares them up. I get a pain in my face under my eye socket if I cry much.
