Don't get me wrong, I have many many wonderful students. Some are great at replying, others less so but they have good reason. To the few that are just plain irritating, this is what I want to say to you, but obviously can't I'm real.life....
"Why the f*!k do you NEVER reply to my emails. A simple 'thanks for your email' would do, especially after I have spent hours looking at your work (which you spent five minutes on by the look of it). I have sent you pages of advice and lots of supportive emails, so you are so rude to not reply.
And .. no, don't complain about that mark you got. If you had actually read my emails and advice, and acted on it, you'd have got a better mark. If you actually came to see me, or listened to the feedback after, you'd do better next time.
If you are one of these students who has a lecturer that does actually give a f!*k about you and wants you to do well, then please please please at least grace them with a response, or even thank them for their time. We are human and work are arses off!"
(Disclaimer - secretly I understand. I was a pretty useless 18 year old undergrad once. But right now I am feeling peed off! Perhaps it's karma for younger self!!!)
