To think mortgage advisor is a bit shit?

Met 5 weeks ago - took all request docs and had previously emailed everything required. Mortgage found at meeting, great we thought - go ahead and apply for us.

A couple of weeks later he requested next months bank statements, as obviously hasn’t done anything in hindsight and now ticked over into next month. Sent everything.

A week or so after he queried a couple of transfers (savings accounts and a current account he already had statements for)

Still no word despite being told we’d hear by end of the week. No reply to email or voicemail yesterday.

Is this totally shit? I honestly expected a bit better and thought we would be progressing with a simple no chain purchase by now. Reluctant to pull plug as I have no idea how far along application is or what chances of being accepted are.

I used to work in mortgages but 15+ years ago, so not sure if it’s very different now.

Any thoughts or advice very appreciated!

Are they charging you for their services? I used L&C (as recommended by money saving expert). No charges and found me a great mortgage. All done via phone/email. This was a while ago, but I’m sure it was pretty fast/efficient.

My mortgage broker got us a MIP in 2 days so yeah that sounds really bad!

Very poor indeed. If you've paid, ask for a refund after fully relaying your dissatisfaction, and seek a better alternative.
