To ask your best new home gift ideas!

Friend just brought her first home that is a bit if a renovation project too and she is very creative/hands on. She made me a lovely housewarming gift that she painted for me (I cannot do this back as I am not creative at all) so asking mumsnet - what was the best new home gifts you recieved?

If it's a renovation project it is impossible to know what styles/themes/decor she will end up with. If she's creative why not give her a nice scrapbook/ideas book that she can staple fabric samples, paint charts, that sort of thing, into with all her ideas for each room of the house?

Honestly my best gift was from DH's gran who gave us a bucket full of teatowels, dishcloths, cleaning products etc. Not because I didn't have any but because they would all get used eventually no matter what I did to the house. Practical always wins for me.
