To wonder what would happen if I died?

I live in Norway, it is already super cold.
My Dh took my 20month old Ds out this morning in a long sleeved t-shirt and a light waterproof. No scarf, no gloves, no jumper, no blanket! At least he had a hat!
Dh was wearing t-shirt, jumper and layered coat and a woolly hat so he knew it was cold.
I honestly despair!
Any other DPartner parenting fails to keep me company?

When, not if!

roisinagusniamh · 20/09/2019 13:02

Why did you marry a child?

Witsendagain · 20/09/2019 13:21

seeing hah I'm hoping either my ds will be old enough to look after himself or my dh will go first (probably aided by a shovel and new patio).
roisin he has some redeeming qualities 😊

Clearly common sense was not one of those qualities so I'm guessing he has a base line ability to not be a total knob and knows how to stack a dishwasher maybe.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 20/09/2019 13:25

What did he say when you pointed out the lack of appropriate clothing on DS?

Witsendagain · 20/09/2019 13:48

He does lack common sense but he is generous to a fault, loving, works hard to provide for us so I can stay home with ds, and a multitude of other good qualities. He does house work although sometimes needs prompting! He just sometimes doesn't think... and I think we are all guilty of that when we are tired.
The reason he got ds dressed this morning was because I'd not had much sleep so dh rearranged his work so he could take ds out for the morning and leave me get some rest! He is definately not a bad egg!

He was really upset! I asked where ds's jumper was, he was mortified kept saying 'I didn't think, I can't believe I didn't think'. I'd left ds's clothes from yesterday on the table minus his jumper which had gone straight in the wash so he just put what was left out on him and gone out!

So he works full time outside the home so you can be a SAHM?
And helps with the housework, takes care of the baby, etc.

Sounds like a good arrangement.
What is the point of your thread?

Witsendagain · 20/09/2019 14:29

I'm a full time sahm (although we rarely are at home) and I work a from home one day a week. He works full time (5 days) but has a flexi time contract so can use that sometimes if either of us needs a break. We both do house work, I do slightly more maybe 70/30. And we both care for our ds outside working hours, although I do all the nights.
I also take ds out one weekend day so dh can have a break.

I had hoped for the thread to be a lighthearted 'haha look at all the silly things our dps do on occasion' type thing! Yes I was momentarily annoyed when I realised but if it had been a real problem I would have popped into a shop and bought ds a jumper/scarf whatever else and dh wouldn't have had a problem with that at all.

Ha that reminds me of an old joke from my NCT class: what does the mother of a newborn do when she (the mother) feels chilly? Puts another layer on her baby....

tryingoutgreyhair · 20/09/2019 14:45

Sorry I didn't explain that very well it's because your DH didn't feel cold in all his jumpers. (Sort Of reverse empathy)

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 20/09/2019 14:46

If I died the toilet would be disgusting in less than a week. My dh is excellent in many respects, but definitely toilet cleaning doesn't even feature on his radar!!

roisinagusniamh · 20/09/2019 15:06

If I died my children would eat wonderful meals every night because I am a half hearted cook while my DP is a very good one. They cheer when it's Dad's turn to cook.

Witsendagain · 20/09/2019 16:00

Grey I laughed! I make a habit of thinking it's cold/wet/raining and going back into the house to get the appropriate gear for Ds, then realising 10mins down the road that I forgot my own scarf/hat/jacket! 😂
