He revealed that he asked her (possibly indirectly) to comment on the Scottish referendum as the polls were looking pro-Leave.

Apparently, revealing this conversation has 'displeased' the Palace and there is talk of being 'let down'.

That sounds like Palace talk for being seriously pissed off. But put in a diplomatic way.

Major breach of convention by Cameron.

(Not as bad as lying to her, mind you.)

EngTech · 19/09/2019 21:31

Last Monarch to get involved in politics lost their head that is why the Queen stays out of politics publicly but what she says in private should stay private

Obviously DC thinks this did not apply to him 😬

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 19/09/2019 21:32

How awful for her Hmm

SquishySquirmy · 19/09/2019 21:34

She can join the club.
I'm bloody furious at Cameron.

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/09/2019 21:36

I would actually did laughing if the Queen wrote a book
All the Prime Ministers I have had to put up with, and why I think they are ***

Outsomnia · 19/09/2019 21:36

To my mind, all conventions have been broken now. And no one seems to care anymore. That is the problem.

Her Maj will cope, that is in the past now. But will democracy and all that actually cope with what is happening now?

AudacityOfHope · 19/09/2019 21:37

Oh boo hoo. Honestly, the weird mystery the RF have managed to wrap themselves up in is beyond stupid in the 21st century. Nobody should be entitled to have secret conversations about the governing of a nation of people who were under the impression they were part of a functional democracy.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 19/09/2019 21:37

This Queen is said to be an excellent sounding board for PMs, and she has been involved indirectly in affairs of state for so long that I'm sure that's true. But once she is succeeded it is high time that the nonsense of the PM meeting the monarch every week to discuss how things are going is discontinued.

Memoirs of the Queen - I'd totally buy that!

DopeyDazy · 19/09/2019 21:39

shows what an untrustworthy shite 'Call me Dave ' is , he'd shaft anyone.

Outsomnia · 19/09/2019 21:40

It is just more publicity for his book too. Yep, that is what this is all about IMO, but the proceeds are going to charity AFAIK.

What charities does anyone know.

The Palace will cope. They have a machine to deal with it.

AcarinaTeaBag · 19/09/2019 22:36

Outsomnia Alzheimer's, Veteran servicemen and childhood disability.

LloydBraun · 19/09/2019 22:39

Well she can get to the back of the fucking queue, there’s about 17 million ahead of her

Or, for short, a Tory.
