So dp works 6 days a week, out at 7 home around 5. I'm a sahm with our dd whilst 4yo is is at school, and shes a terror to say the least! She still wakes throughout the night and I do all the night times. Every night. Now since Sunday I've had a rotten cold turned bronchitis, last night my daughter was up 3 times and not once did he get up to her. So I'm there struggling to breathe tending to her whilst he 'sleeps'. He text me earlier today asking if I could prepare his lunch for tomorrow and something to go with dinner tonight, we usually cook together. I wouldn't usually mind but
st want to rest whilst dd is in her play pen for a little while till I collect ds. Hes just called me asking if I've done what he asked and I said no I've been dead on the sofa pretty much apart from doing the washing and usual cleaning. He then sent me link for the recipe... no how are you, no nothing. Aibu to be royally pissed off or just over reacting. Seems as though whenever I'm unwell I'm just expected to get along with it but God forbid if hes ill we must all be attentive!!!

YANBU. Your husband is an inconsiderate arsehole.

CarolDanvers · 19/09/2019 15:56

I'd reply "I am ill and trying to rest. Obviously I won't be cooking tonight so please arrange something for us, thanks".

shas19 · 19/09/2019 15:59

It's not letting me tag you individually for some reason! Still trying to get used to my s10! I havent even replied hes got a bloody cheek! I will not be cooking tonight, just about had the energy to make the kids a cheese sandwich ffs

OP, clearly the dynamic in your relationship is that he feels comfortable being a selfish inconsiderate twat.

Clearly you do too much.

You can choose to live this way and be treated badly or you can choose to be treated with kindness.

Do not put up with this.

Take a hard look at how much you do and adjust accordingly.

Motoring on and not insisting he steps up, particularly when you are unwell is a recipe for disaster.

Lay it out in plain language for him. And do not be getting up to your DD while you are ill.

He sounds like a selfish pig.

Hope you feel better soon.💐

an idiot is when they do something silly without meaning to. This isnt that = he is selfish and its needs addressing

tell him if he wants it he can make it!

shas19 · 19/09/2019 16:19

Thank you for all your comments. Yes I do do to much most likely. Dont get me wrong, he works hard and helps a lot with the kids and home. But it's the little things you know! I wont be getting up tonight for dd which is going to be so hard but I guess I've built a rod for my own back! I never get ill really but when I do it's awful!

Send him the google maps pinned link to McDonald’s

NearlyGranny · 19/09/2019 16:41

Just be pale and limp on the sofa when he gets in. You're ill - he will realise he's BU.

shas19 · 19/09/2019 18:03

Clearly realised he was being a dick. I've just woken up on the sofa covered with a blanket, kids bathed, their dinners on and hes taken them in the front room to watch football with him. If I wasnt so rough I'd dance

Delighted for you OP.
It's very hard when you are so sick. And have children. Very hard.

I laughed at my old self whom stayed in bed feeling a little off🙄before children!

It is a so unbelievably hard to be really unwell and have to face children. So unbelievably hard. My husband has always been really great. However, I was caught with 3 young children once while he was away and I was very sick. So hard. So miserable.

I'm glad he has stepped up.
However!!!! This could be a learning moment. When you are well again. Perhaps don't do too much👍.

I hope you feel better soon.
PS. Eat. The worst thing is to skip meals when I'll. Learnt to my cost. Even if it's only tea an toast. It's something. 💐
