Brexit is just the name of the argument about if pineapple is a suitable pizza topping

YDraig · 19/09/2019 02:57

Honestly it would take ages for someone to explain the issues it’s a complex topic with loads of different views. Google is your best friend.

WaterSheep · 19/09/2019 06:31

In really simple terms

Brexit = Britain Exiting the European Union.

LaurieMarlow · 19/09/2019 06:33

Fucking really? Hmm

Stickybeaksid · 19/09/2019 06:35

Ha ha nice try

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2019 06:36

At the moment we're due to leave on Halloween. We've been due to leave twice before and both times an extension was agreed because a deal could not be agreed.

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2019 06:37

Peace in Ireland is under threat

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2019 06:38

Now for the biased bit
It's all about making lives for the majority much shitter but it's all worth it because we will in some vague undefineable way, be 'great' again. That might not be for fifty years though but you just wait.

Wildorchidz · 19/09/2019 06:41

You will pay more to use your phone in Europe.

coconuttelegraph · 19/09/2019 06:41

If you don't pay attention why should anyone spend the huge amount of time it would take to explain years of background?

As some one said above, Google is your fruend

Aberhonddu · 19/09/2019 06:42

Here is the short version.
Remain 👍👍👍
Leave 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 19/09/2019 06:43

nearly 3 years in and you still don;t get it? Have you just landed here from the moon?
In short here is whats going on....not a bloody lot.
A prime minister due to political pressure decided to hold a public vote to ask the country if they wanted to stay in or leave the EU...the country voted yes or no...following so far?
the country said yes ok we will leave...
Then the shit hit the fan cos no one had expected that decision and had not planned for it
three years on and they are all still fighting about how to do it,,how to cancel it,should we vote again.
We are now on 3rd prime minister, first one resigned, second one resigned and third is chuffing about Europe trying to sort it all out
Leave people want to leave
Remain people want to stay
Most of us a so pissed off with it we don;t give a toss anymore but would like our country to be run properly again
Thats it really ....Brexit....the gift that keeps on giving ....

Bluewavescrashing · 19/09/2019 06:46

@Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe has it spot on!

Bellsofstclements · 19/09/2019 06:46

And this is why there should have never been a referendum.

Paddington68 · 19/09/2019 06:48

Good Grief

readingismycardio · 19/09/2019 06:57

Sorry OP, but you remind me of that woman who voted LEAVE and then was googling what the EU is🤦‍♀️

Mousetolioness · 19/09/2019 07:09

Today 06:46Bluewavescrashing

@Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthehas it spot on!

Except for the part about the third prime minister... chuffing about... not much evidence he's actually trying to resolve it...

coconuttelegraph · 19/09/2019 07:40

Sally's post is a summary of what's happened but doesnt explain at all what brexit is

OzzyFinch · 19/09/2019 07:48

Have a look at this
This is Luxembourg's PM Xavier Bettel after meeting with Boris Johnson a few days ago. He was the most honest regarding Brexit I've heard any politician in the last 3 years.

longwayoff · 19/09/2019 08:08

Brexit is a total mess and nobody knows what to do about it or how to achieve it. Maintain your state of unknowing.

AtmosClock · 19/09/2019 08:23

I’m all for people being brave enough to ask about something but from your OP it’s not even clear what you actually know - your starting point. It’s like coming on and asking someone to explain something as huge as WW2 or physics to them

Smelborp · 19/09/2019 08:43

Sallycinnamon has it - I’d only add that we also have frictionless trade which means that products & services, like food and medicines, can cross borders without checks.

For the Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland peace agreement this is very important.

There is currently no border there. If there are trade agreements which require checks, then it might be that a border needs to go back in between these two which would jeopardise the peace agreement.

We also have no independent trade agreements. If we get a deal will be negotiating this for years. With no deal we will be negotiating it for decades.

BunchMunch · 19/09/2019 08:45

Stay in blissful ignorance op.
