AIBU regarding DDs injuries

DD1 (age 9) hurt her fingertip yesterday. It got trapped between 2 snooker balls! She claims she can’t move the tip, it hurts to touch, she can’t write etc. It looks exactly the same as her other fingers, it’s not swollen and she slept fine. She initially refused nurofen as she doesn’t like the taste.

Am I mean for sticking a padded plaster on it and sending her to school?

This comes 1 week after her last finger injury on her other hand where she couldn’t move it, hurt to touch followed by 5 days of pain (except when I strapped it to another finger) again she slept fine and refused pain killers.

I feel a bit mean because I think she just wants sympathy and attention. Or maybe has a very low pain threshold.

I'm sure she's fine. 9 is a good age for drama!

If you get a chance though, you might want to just quietly ask her teacher how's she's got on today? You'll get the truth from them, and if the school had been in any way concerned, they'd have called you.

Even if she has somehow broken it, the hospital wouldn't be able to do anything beyond strap it to the neighbouring finger.

I'd give her teeny chocolate buttons to eat and monitor! But then I am mean mamma!

I guess you'd get a bang from two snooker balls, but to be in that much pain you;d expect a broken fingernail, or some obvious bruising.
Is she looking for bit of extra fuss or being a bit needy for some other reason?
