To be so angry with the scam salon?

Booked a deep tissue massage through a third party (Treatwell) and on the day of appointment was told it was just head, shoulders and neck.

I specifically needed it for my legs and stomach. Woman doing the massage said that I could either go ahead with the treatment or get a refund from Treatwell and her manager would write a note to say this was ok.

I contacted Treatwell and they are saying the salon are claiming they said no such thing and are refusing a refund.

If I’d known they wouldn’t give a refund, I’d have just gone ahead with the massage anyway.

Why would I pay the money, drive to the appointment and then say - oh you can’t do it? Never mind, bye Grin

Hmm

Deep tissue is the type of massage, not the body area. How long did you book?

AussieBeauty · 16/09/2019 19:19

I don't know if you could claim a refund from them, as it was never falsely advertised? A deep tissue massage could mean anywhere.

But if the salon have already said you could ask for one then maybe. But it may be down to the decision of Treatwell? If they say no again then you may not be able to.

It doesn’t really matter if the massage was wrong etc. They gave me two options in the salon

  • go ahead with it
  • get a refund

They shouldn’t offer that and then turn around and say actually no.

What did the treatwell description say? Deep tissue is usually back massage I thought? I don't know how they could do a deep tissue massage on your stomach.

KyraLittle · 16/09/2019 19:35

You’re missing the point.

The salon should not have offered a refund if they were never going to give one.

But are the salon saying that.

Perhaps treatwell are taking the piss alot of 3rd party ones do.

And yes I agree with others. Not sure why you assumed it was a full body deep tissue massage.

Elementalillusions · 16/09/2019 19:38

I’ve never heard of a deep tissue massage being anywhere other than back and shoulders,
And I’ve had several massages a month for over a decade at various salons and spas.

If you didn’t book or pay through the salon you really shouldn’t have taken their word that you would be entitled to a refund.
You should have called treatwell while in the salon and told them the situation.

AussieBeauty · 16/09/2019 19:38

Oh I misread sorry. I thought Treadwell were refusing.

Yeah YANBU if the salon previously said they would refund and now won't, that's wrong.
