Is it within the contract / uniform policy that eyelash extensions aren't to be worn?

My daughter has been told if she doesn't have them removed ASAP she will be sacked, despite working there for almost a year.

Btw, they are natural looking and not overly excessive/ long as I know.

And without the risk of drip feeding she also attended a work meeting last week where the manager handed out thank you gifts to everyone apart from my dd and two other part timers. They were also not allowed to contribute to the meeting.

Not strictly costa but my sister worked at an independent coffee shop and she was told to remove her infilled lashes due to health and safety (?!!) and hygiene practices... no idea how it works but seems a little silly!!

It might not be in to uniform policy but there's a big food hygiene issue with eyelash extensions/falsies.

They run the risk of falling out into food/coffee.

It will be the same reason that nail polish shouldn't be worn, hair should be tied up, no facial piercings and excessive jewellery.

BaaBaaBS · 15/09/2019 19:35

Did they give a reason? Like, is there a chance they could fall into someone's coffee?

StumpyinSomerset · 15/09/2019 19:35

I work in a restaurant, not Costa, but we're not allowed to wear eyelash extensions due to Food Hygiene regs - they may fall into food/drink.

Bouffalant · 15/09/2019 19:37

This is pretty common in catering/hospitality, also extending to false nails in some places.

I know a couple of people who were told they cannot work with false eyelashes or nails.

I have infills and find them all over house so it seems sensible that they wouldn’t be worn in catering outlets. Grimm to find one in your latte or toastie

Yeahnahyeah1 · 15/09/2019 19:57

That’s pretty normal I’m afraid, food hygiene regs!

In My local one they all look like they have eyelash extensions . I was watching them the other day and thinking does anyone have their real eyelashes anymore 🤷‍♀️
