I'm wondering if there's a house swap thread?

I can't find one. I'd love to do a house swap with someone.

Not really sure how it works but would people be put off by having a dog, two cats and ten chickens to look after?

Aren't there entire websites dedicated to this sort of thing? I really think AIBU is the wrong place to look.

DrizzleKicks · 13/09/2019 19:26

I would! I've always liked the idea.

HollowTalk · 13/09/2019 19:30

I think you need to go to a house swap website, really. Anyone on here could say anything and you just wouldn't know whether it was true. You can state your preferences on there, too - I would hate to stay in a house with animals, but some would love it - you couldn't afford to get that wrong.

There’s a guardian home swap site. You can have a free trial to sign up and browse. Friend uses it, seems to work well for her.

I’d do it if our place was slightly better decorated Grin

karenbokaren · 13/09/2019 19:37

I feel like there's a better breed of person on Mumsnet. Grin

And you can check with poster history.

I'd be so nervous just doing it with a random stranger. Clearly has too much trust in fellow mumsnetters.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 13/09/2019 19:39

Surely you wouldn't leave pets with a complete stranger?

Windydaysuponus · 13/09/2019 19:39

Swop you for 4 ddogs , 2 dcats, 2 drabbits and a dsnake?

Windydaysuponus · 13/09/2019 19:39

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/09/2019 19:39

karenbokaren · 13/09/2019 19:41

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/09/2019 19:56

I’m sure I haven’t lived. How does one burp a house?

whiteroseredrose · 13/09/2019 19:58

We fancy doing this when we retire. Maybe for 6 months. But not for about 10 years unfortunately. I'll watch the thread :)

karenbokaren · 13/09/2019 20:04

I have no bloody clue why 'remember' auto corrected to remove burp! Confused

OP posts:
karenbokaren · 13/09/2019 20:05

Windydaysuponus · 13/09/2019 20:06

Ds is a chef, could leave him here at your disposal!!

karenbokaren · 13/09/2019 20:16

Oooooh now you're talking!

OP posts:
ThighThighOfthigh · 13/09/2019 23:30

It sounds a great idea but imagine the decluttering, cleaning, decorating and gardening you'd need to do! I think I'd have to returf the lawn, buy matching garden furniture. And my towels, some of them are antiques!

ThighThighOfthigh · 13/09/2019 23:31

I'd rather just burp my house and rent a holiday let.
