To go on my own?

I've just booked a week away in a gorgeous lodge with a private hot tub and sea view. I've been quite ill for a bit and am signed off work.

Now technically, there's plenty of room for my partner, and we could even take the cat, but AIBU to tell him I want to go on my own? He's a bit of a misery-guts and wouldn't want to come paddling in the sea, or visit places nearby. I half-think he would decline anyway if I invited him... but should I at least offer?

Would you be offended if your partner took off for a week without inviting you along?

Me and my husband do this often as we both have different tastes in holidays (I love the cold and he likes the heat)
Neither of us have an issue with it. We also like alone time from stressful everyday life Grin

Take the cat. Leave misery guts at home!!

If you don’t want him to come then say you fancy some alone time, no idea if he’ll be offended or not!

GiveMeHope103 · 13/09/2019 12:22

I think you should offer. If he isnt going to do any activities you will be alone anyway?

bridgetreilly · 13/09/2019 12:36

I think I would present it in terms of your health/recovery, needing some quiet time alone in a lovely place to recuperate.

Absolutely fine to go on your own, of course.

It does slightly sound that your main reason for going away is to get away from your misery-guts partner, though, rather than just to enjoy a break for its own sake.

I'd be pretty miffed if my DP did this to be honest.

If you want him to decline, draw up an itinerary. Make it as shit (in his eyes) as humanly possible. Give it to him and ask if he's interested.
